The sill stands will by fine, they are extremely common.

EDIT - just type "sill stands" into google, they mostly look the same.

i very much doubt he would put a car that he has spent countless amounts of money and time on just for it too fall off the stands so I'm guessing they do the job very well.

leave them there, can get jacks that fit into them to lift the car and when u want to do any work underneath can put stands in there.

A few cars have them on the road and alot of rally/off road cars have them.

Hamish. hasn't done much to it over the past few weeks due to working long hours, but did manage a little this week

Got the roof vent mounted which took a good while to get right as it didn't follow the profile of the roof at all well, there was about a 10mm gap down each side. So some time spent with a grinder and it was sorted. Mounted it on the same tape as I used for the windows to keep the water out:

Todays job was sorting the doors properly. He remade the steel plates for the hinge bolts out of alloy because well they look better! Then he made up a way to open the doors from the inside as some fool cut the old handle out! So its now a length of 2mm 316 grade stainless rigging wire with an electric terminal one end and and a loop the other:

So thats its for now, hoping to have the panels on and engine bits back in February so I can really get things moving!

Been a while since an update so here goes.

He was going to bolt the driveshafts on but couldn't bring himself to use the old spreader plates that go behind the bolts. So He decided to make them out of stainless. No water jets or lasers used to cut them all done with a grinder, half the reason they took so bloody long to do! Drilling them was another epic as the drill bit kept wandering off even in the pillar drill, so into the laithe it was.

After they were finally done he moved onto the radiator scoop as it needed some protection from any debris. So he got some aliminium mesh and made that fit after a lot of persuasion, hopefully that will stop any large pieces holing the rad.

The best part of the update is the next bit! The panels are back from Daves and looking excellent. Everything is just thrown on for a first look, so a bit of tweeking will having it looking spot on! Also had the heated windscreen fitted by Daves mate Dan, who was amazing and had it done within 10 mins!

Amazing to see it all together for the first time! Realy starting to look like a car now! He is going to get the front end fitted properly this weekend, should get the headlights, indicators and front grills in. The bottom end of the engine has been balanced and is ready to pick up so the engine build will begin in march!

Going to be used and abused. Hill climbs, time trials, track and will be taken to a show or two when it's done!

Hamish done a little bit of work this weekend whilst helping his old man change the big end bearings in the BMW.

Got the bonnet lined up nicely with the bonnet pins cut to length and at the right height.

Then got the headlights and indicators in with there smoked lenses.

Squib poped around tonight and dropped off the grills he had been cleaning up as the moulds were crap so placed them on to get an eye for what it will look like. The grill and bumper still arn't in position at all so ignore there fitment.

Thought he better make sure didn't need to roll his arches as well... man its a bit tight for room in there.

Grills will look fine when car is complete. Same as original Quattro:

Wheels, yeh they need about 6" spacers
