can't wait to see what he does with the wiring. it'll be hard to keep it looking as tidy as it does now with wires all over the place.

Hamish built the sill stands this weekend. They just need some feet and a coat of paint and they are done.

They are 600mm high so there is plenty of space to work on the underside:

Hamish picked the doors and bumper up from SBS yesterday. Very shiney they are!

The engine came back from the machine shop last week. Its been bored for the new JE pistons, decided on 4 thou clearance for them. The block has also been decked to make sure its perfectly flat. Had the crank checked as well and each journal is perfect to the thousandth for book specs. He's hoping to gather up all the remaining engine bits and get on with building it in the next few months.

Everything is now here to get the engine built up once its all been away for balancing which with a 5 cylinder is a bit more involved than a 4 cylinder!

150mm Pauter con rods, riffle drilled for direct little end oiling:

Helix Paddle clutch:

Heavy duty cover plate:

36-1 crank trigger wheel:

Also got a steering wheel boss and a removable one. Santa might be bringing him a nice steering wheel for christmas to go with them!

All of the bottom end is going down to the guy who did the cylinder head for balancing next week. Also taking the cylinder head back down to have a boss for the cam trigger sensor welded to it for the Autronic management. Hoping to get the engine built up, bolted to the gearbox and in the car in the next couple of months.

Yup...

Hamish did a little work on the car today.

Got the doors built up with the windows and mirrors, and mounted to the car to check the fitment:

Then mounted the steering wheel and the bosses onto the car:

Feels just about right so he might get away without having to drop the column down.

I cant wait to see it with the rest of the panels on now! Hamish also dropped the bottom end off with the guy who did the cylinder head to have the whole lot balanced.

Is there still a jack under there or is it purely held up on the sill stands?

Just on the sill stands, two tyres under rear and front but not supporting anything!

Surely they need wider feet on them? Looks like you could push the side of the car and it not take much to go over on those stands.

My mates ones for his Escort cosworth have got like legs that go back towards the underneath of the car, just the same as what goes into the hole in the sill, but one on either leg.....

dont think that makes sense....

top build though, been watching it since the start

Sill stands are quite normal, the bit that slots in to the sill will be long enough to support itself, like a pipe inside another pipe, you can't bend the smaller diameter one.

EDIT - My BMW even has sill holes for the jack.

Yeah, I know what they are and how they work! Id just of expected some wider feet on it so less pressure was on the actual sill should the car be moved sideways for whatever reason. With the feet that small all the pressure will go on to the sill which could end badly!
