Yes the panel is cut for the air feed... It has a Viper on it, and if you look at the pics of the bonnet you can see its got a cutout in that to. Every little helps...

Heres a couple of pics from when we first converted it months ago

Its a fairly simple swop... You can use either the Saxo gearbox or AX. The offside engine mount needs modding to fit and obviously so does the wiring. Apart from that its pretty much bolt in to be honest.

As you can see it is a little tight in there, so certain jobs have to be done in a set order... eg: Rad in before manifold in. And engine and box put in seperate and not at once makes life easier.

Neil

Chris finished off the AX engine conversion tonight, he was waiting for his new Top mounts which had to modified to fit on the Damper / Spring Combo

These mounted under the Top Mounts

Our nice tidy workshop

Nice new PACET fan

Im glad to say it fired up first time and after a few test runs up and down my farm drive we were very happy with the conversion. Just needs an MOT now and it'll be coming to a track day near you soon.....

Also today the Postman kindly dropped off my new fuel pump.

Update 6th Feb

Started work rebuilding the LET tonight.

Now that the bottom end is cleaned up and painted it looks like this:

We fitted a Z20LET Head gasket (as suggest in www.Max-Boost.co.uk)

Cleaned out where the manky dead water pump used to be

And fitted a nice new Vauxhall one

Cleaned up the COSCAST Head

Fitted and Torqued up

Started fitting the water pipes round the back

And bits and bobs around the front

Then on went the Inlet manifold

And finally the Turbo and manifold

And thats as far as we got.... to be continued Thursday night

Hi Neil,
Hows it going? Long time no speak! Very good read this thread is, its just taken me ages to read through it all!
Going back a couple fo pages now, I see you had to weld that engine mount bracket into Ben's engine bay, where did you manage to get a new bracket from as my Corsa engine bay is lacking one too!

I see you're planning another Nurburgring trip now then. Any confirmed dates? And I still never received the DVD from the 05 F**K YEAH trip!!

Cheers

Im good cheers, just plodding along with this new project

With regards to the Mounting bracket I got it from www.chrisastleymotorsport.co.uk (very helpful guy who posts on here)

What Corsa project are you doing? How's the rallying going?

Would you believe i've got that Nurburg DVD on my desk at work infront of me right now PM me your address again and i'll send it off from here.

Yes we do have a confirmed date for the RING. Im going to post a thread in general chat about it soon. We're going over with Karl and that lot again early July if your interested?

Yeah, I'm not bad thanks.

Is that mounting plate just for the 2 litre then because when I first bought this Corsa, it had a 2 litre in it already! But, i'm putting my 1.4 16v in from my rally car so do you know if I'll need that bracket or not?

This Corsa is going to be my new rally car. Its going up to North Wales on Sunday for its full weld in cage, then should hopefully see the rally stages later in the year!

The rallying last year went very well indeed, finished 3rd Overall in the South west Tarmac championship, winning the 1400cc class, and finished 2nd overall in the under 21s championship. Not bad for my first full year!

Yes, I shall be very interested indeed about that trip, as long as the corsa is ready, but I'll probably end up towing it over there!

I'll PM you my address for the DVD

That bracket will also fit in with the 1.4 16v I believe... As Padge (previous owner) was running it with his 1.4 If your not 100% just send an email to the web address I gave you. Im sure he'll know.

Thats fantastic with regards to the Rallying!!! I really hope you can make the RING trip this year. Look out for my post.

Just got your PM but left Disc at work, so i'll send it Monday.... Hope this one gets to you this time.... Grrr Royal Mail.

and why the vernier pulley? is this to adjust it further to take advantage of the different profile?

The stock LET cams are a milder version of the XE items. They have shorter duration and lower valve lift (8.5mm instead of the XE's 9.5)

By swopping the Inlet and playing about with the timing (Retarded around 7 degree's roughly) you can make mid-range power a lot stronger can add power at the top end.

See www.max-boost.co.uk for all the LET tuning info you could ever need! Including a lot more info on this CAM Mod.
