Hello all,

Before i begin this thread you might want some background information regarding me and my new corsa otherwise some of this might not make sense. My original post can be found here...

http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=322401

Ok, introducing the cars...

First off the RAW Egg

This is owned by a good mate of mine (Ben) we haven't actually started work on this car yet apart from aquire the engine...

Next my HARDBOILED Egg

And finally another mates car (Dan's) 2.2 Prelude engined Civic

These three cars are our winter projects which are being built in preparation for next years Nurburgring trip in May. Then in June my car will be taking part in the Modified Gumball Rally (should it still be running lol)

see http://www.modifiedgumballrally.com/ for details

Ok, you've seen the cars... now for the build.

I purchased my Corsa end of Oct this year from a mate who had owned the car for the last 4 or so years and had modified it from standard.

25th October
The car was towed to my house (Luckily I live on a farm so we have room to work on all 3 cars at once)

Im sorry for the pic quality on most of these... they were taken with a phone

26th October
The 2.0 16v ITB'd Engine is stripped from the Corsa

My thanks to Ben and Kev for the help.

8th November

I have the day off work to start stripping all the suspension components off my Corsa in preparation for a nice bit of powder coating... I also start cleaning up the engine bay.

And the pure Titanium Can which Dan has brought to go on his Civic (the bore is too small for my new engine)

9th November

We decide that the barn has nowhere near enough lighting for in the evenings so luckily Ben is an Electrician and got hold of 6 strip lights for us to use.

We built a simple wooden frame and suspended it from the roof to give a good spread of light.

As you can see.... Dan and Ben are more than happy with the results

Thats more like it.... we can see what were doing now.

Oh that cam cover.... Well the owner Padge was away when we were working on his engine one weekend so we got the Tipex out and covered the cam cover with various slogans and quotes beings as he wasn't there. It was funny at the time.... One of those "you had to be there" lol

Ok now for some background information on Dan's Civic...

It started life as a standard 1.5 LSi and was standard when Dan brought it. He purchased some coilovers and wheels straight away but after a while the temptation to go crazy got to much so parts began to arrive. Starting with some hydraulics from Rayvern...

Next he brought a Bodykit 2nd hand which had been damaged. So we set about repairing and spraying it ourselves with a cheap air compressor.

The results we were very happy with (Summer 2004)

But this wasn't to last... Within 6 months Dan decided to get more performance orientated... The bodykit was removed along with the Hydraulics (which were swopped for a respray) and a 1.6 Vtec lump was purchased along with some Tein Coilovers.

But this still wasn't enough so around this time last year Dan took his civic off the road and vowed to build an awesome Track Car in time for our annual Nurburgring trip in May.

Fast forward a year and the car is still not finished nor has it been fully resprayed yet But it has collected a very impressive Spec list.

Heres the car in its early stages a few months back with a freshly fitted Prelude 2.2 Engine, a set of Throttle Bodies and nicely resprayed engine bay to name just a few of the mods.

In October the car was transported from its lockup where the engine conversion took place to my house where it would recieve the final few tweeks (yeah right! :lol

Cheers for the transport Kev

Once at mine the "final tweeks" took place

recognise the cars in the background...lol

Here are a few of the bits and bobs that have been fitted since the car arrived...

23rd November

Myself and Ben decide that Dan's Civic is taking far to long to complete so we pitch in and help him for an evening.

The evening activities simply consisted of fitting a nice 6 point safety devices cage...

Thankyou.

Two reasons why I didn't keep the Throttle Bodied engine,

The first being I couldn't afford to buy the car and engine off Padge (the previous owner) and the second is that I have a very special engine to put in it instead (see the link at the top of the page for details).

30th November

Time for Project Raw Egg to get underway...

Things didn't start well.... The owner (Ben) hadn't realised the alternator wasn't charging and as a result on the way to my house the battery died and I received a phone call to bring a new battery...

One fully charged battery and 15mins later the car arrives at my shed

Heres your first proper look at the Beauty

Ben is more than happy with his £400 EBay purchase

You've got to love that light! And yes it is staying on

What an awesome Interior. Lol

And an even more awesome engine.... 1.7 litres of pure DIESEL POWER

The boys just realise its a Diesel and can't believe that we actually want to remove it

Plenty of room in the back for a little Mincer

We get to work, first job... Remove Supension complete with struts, brakes, tiebars, wishbones and driveshafts

Next up we need to remove the Exhaust..... Do we need it again??? Nahhh... so why bother wasting time unbolting it

Both Cool in very different ways

Andy is pleased with his work (disconnecting all the ancillaries)

Time for the engine craine to be called into use

Down she goes

Up with the car and slide the engine out.... Jobs a goodun

What an amazing engine..... NOT (going free to a good home if anyone reckons they can handle the power???)

Ben's decided he doesn't need an engine.... Fred Flintstone Power all the way

Next weeks objective..... Engine Bay Preparation for both Corsa's
