Sorry for the delay... PC Troubles

18th January

Received my Rocker cover back

Waiting for my Stainless bolts and Oil cap to turn up now

Finished off removing all the rusty bits from around my engine bay and wheel arches... The more I sanded the more rust I found

When it had all being taken back to bare metal I sprayed it with ETCH Primer

Then a hand brushed coat of Hammerite

Next I Masking taped all the Ancilleries (Pipes, cables etc)

And gave all the areas you are going to see a coat of filler primer

This is where I have got to with my car (Just needs the filler primer to be flatted back ready for the normal primer and then paint)

Whilst this was going on we were also put up a make shift spray booth for Ben's car prior to spraying

Ben then set about giving his engine bay a coat of primer (Because his car is going to be no show queen he did his fairly quickly with not much flatting back, this showed later on when a few area's of paint bubbled up! doh! I did warn him But generally its fine)

And finally I have two camera pics of the LET Bottom end which has now had a layer of paint applied. Just one more coat needed and it can be put back together.

Still had to cover everything up because inevitably the paint got out, but helped stopping bits from getting into the paint before it dried.

Have you noticed the Mask? We lost the proper one so did short spells with a cheap throw away mask.

I can still taste paint now

As mentioned earlier the owner is being rough.... Its got going to be a pretty car (Its a commercial Van ) Also the Engine bay is being resprayed a different colour than the car for a contrast with the engine, so the inner top of the wings also needed spraying hence another reason for leaving them on.

Not too sure if its going to work yet, but it doesn't matter if it doesn't because the cars being built to be driven.

Mine on the other hand is being done to a slighty higher level of detail

22nd January

Update:

Firstly sorry for the pic quality, didn't have the proper camera just using the phone

As I now have most of the bits I decided to put my 8v Engine and Box back together.

Firstly cleaned up the head a bit, fitted Turbo and Manifold, then fitted my new turbo oil return hose (the old one was perished)

It was a very cold night so Dan was wrapped up nice and warm bless

Then fitted my freshly powercoated engine mount

Next up was the fitting of the gearbox now that I have the modded gearlinkage that is needed (Cheers Ade :thumbs

All nicely bolted up and all 6 gears engage at the moment (fingers crossed they still do when installed in the car!)

Still waiting on a few "Tart Up" bits (Anodised Oil Cap, Stainless Bolts, Red Silicon Hoses etc) but its nearly ready.

Oh and an update on the Silver 2.2 Civic for all you Jap lovers...

Its been at a local motorsport garage for the past few weeks, where it has been having its driveshafts modded (They were far too tight with no CV Joint play previous). This job is now complete along with a long Stud conversion so he can run 6mm spacers with the 18's he has got.

The car is also booked in for 4 wheel alignment and the first stage of engine mapping....

Watch this space

It was an Mi16 with 1.9 GTi Box
Dellorto 45's Carb's
Full Devil Exhaust
Rolling roaded at 181bhp

Suspension is the Bilstein Yellow kit from Ecosse (forgotton the exact name but its the good one)

Brakes where just uprated standard

Wheels "Were" 17" BK Racing (didn't like these, too fancy for the car with the lip and studs)

Bodywork was resprayed in MG Trophy Blue (can't remember the name of the bodykit)

Interior was the Corbeau Recliners (again forgotton what model) and his mum retrimmed the rear to match

Has he taken it down the 1/4 mile yet? Would be interested to know what it would run. My mates 171bhp XE Corsa felt quicker though to be honest and that ran a 14.7
