Just gone home and two small parcels were waiting for me....

A bit boring but I have nothing to do for 30mins so I thought i'd take a pic and post them up.

The latest 2 Ebay Purchases: A lovely Anodised Oil Cap and some Stainless Rocker cover bolts

Will be doing a couple of hours later tonight on the cars so look out for an update tomorrow.

Update

25th January

Ben started off by sanding back all the dodgey area's that had bubbled up on his engine after priming (he won't be doing that again!)

Once this was done and had been reprimered, he set about spraying the bay.

The colour of choice is matt black for two reasons:
1) it doesn't show imperfections as much as gloss
2) we thought it would be a great constrast with the gloss black engine cover and all the stainless and chrome parts that are going in the engine bay

Rattle cans were used as its easier and not as important to get a smooth finish.

Dan keeping warn by sitting on the heater

We think its looks very , and are very happy with the results. Its something a bit different from the norm anyway.

And here's what I did last night.

Dug the intermediate bar out I took off a Cav a while back and installed it
(for those of you who haven't seen this before, its so I can run an Equal Length Driveshaft which helps massively with Torque steer umoungst other things)

Dan sanded back the filler primer with 600Grit Wet & Dry

Look I do do work, for all the none believers

And finally I installed the new Oil Cap and rocker bolts

The logo on the cap doesn't line up though.... doh! nevermind

Got the day off tomorrow so hopefully should get my engine bay in primer

......at last!

Update

26th January

Had the day off work today as someone was coming to pick my Motocross bike up that I have now sold

This is her

And this is what I got for her

£1900 to be exact. Which I prompty gave to my mate Padge as I still owe him 2K for this red corsa of mine Cheers Padge, it is now officially MINE

As I had the day off I set about making a small spray booth around my car

And proceeded to clean up the engine bay with thinners ready for its first coat of primer....

And here's the results

Whilst I was doing this a mate of mine brought his brand spanking new 2007 Honda 450R Motocross bike over to run it in.

Dam I wish I didn't have to sell my bike... Oh well, i'll get another one one day, but for now the Corsa is my hobby

Mirror (singular!) and the reason its not that exciting and carbon BASED is because I'm gonna make a carbon BASE plate (see what I did there )

Today we worked on a different car.

A while back we helped convert a mates AX GTi to a VTS 1.6 16v Engined machine. It looked like this

Unfortunetely after a lot of bad luck this engine let go (suspected Cambelt failure) after just a few miles of driving it. And its taken till this week for the owner (Chris) to get a rebuilt engine to replace the one thats in it.

So the day started with towing the car up to mine

Complete with new rebuilt VTS engine in the back

We then set about taking it apart

But unfortunetely we could not get the car in the air at this stage as someone had lost the locking wheel nut key

so out came the welder to weld a bolt on the end to remove the key

More stripping now that its in the air

The car has a GTi6 Disc conversion and runs on Koni adjustables with Custom front springs

We nice and safely held the gearbox up with 2 jacks as we undid the bolts

By removing the gearbox it makes the engine soooo much easier to remove

Turns out the Cambelt was ok, but it looks like the woodruff key in the crank pulley cog has snapped... as the bottom end goes round but doesn't turn the cambelt. Never come across that before.

Old engine shoved into the back of Chris's ZX, ready to be stripped down at another time

Preparing new engine to go in

In she goes

Just another few little jobs to go and she'll be ready to roll again.
