Quick question regarding courtneys gay driveshafts.. after finaly finding out they use 1.4 8v outer c.v joints i replaced my broken one, however i am a little baffled by the washer that was fitted. (between the c.v joint and hub) now this appeared to push the c.v in and there was an extra hole drilled further out for the split pin in the old joint. Does the spacer actually serve a purpose.. if so what is it?..
mainly because i didnt fit it and lobbed it in my tool box... im now waiting for my wheel bearing to collapse or somthing stupid

when i fitted my shafts in the nova (lmf shafts and big block cvs) i didnt fit that washer and when i bolted it all together the wheel wouldnt turn.
fitted the washer and it was fine. never bothered to look why it wouldnt work without just left it at 'it works so its ok'
