Seeing how much it will cost to drop a 2.0 16V into my corsa.

The base model is the 1.2 LS post facelift.

I dont want any real tuning stuff on the 2.0 at first, just the engine, induction kit and exhaust.

What kinda price would I be looking at for all the bits and then for the conversion.

I was thinking it would cost me around £2000, for the donar car, all parts, the actual conversion and the labour on top of that.

What do you think??

i charge bout £1500 for a drive in drive out conversion beardy charges bout the same courtenay and regal are just behind us bout £3500

lee, do u supply engine or not? if so, are tehy refurbed? I doubt u do, may seem silly but worth asking.

my mate supplies the engines to. they aint refurbed for definate its wheels that are usually refurbed but he can recondition them for extra if people wanted them done.

Ah thats not bad them mate, what are waiting lists like to be booked in to have the conversion done??

By drive in, drive out do you mean that all the engine is swapped and done, brakes uprated etc??

very busy at the moment but can sort out na date if ur interested. im in kent. and uprating the brakes wouldnt be a problem at the same time

neva timed myself i only do a couple of hours a nite after work and then of a weekend. takes a week 4 me on and off. could do one in a day i reckon but id rather take my time and make sure everythings perfect.

beleive it or not it'll prob cost less than that, if you look in the right places, but if ur gonna go for a conversion you might as well go all the way for a 2.0l turbo (vvvvvrrrrrrooooommmmmm, pssssst!!!)

yea u could get it cheaper. u could use tapered drive shafts for a start. save yourself hundred or so quid. then u could replace them every couple of months when they snap and cost u even more in the long run and have reliabity problems

Ok then Lee, well at this moment in time I am just looking into it, I have other things coming for the car like leather interior and uprated brakes off a 2.0 16V, so when I have sorted all that, which hopefully shouldnt be too long then I will be seriously looking into booking it in with you.

i had tapered shafts for a year in me 8v.. didnt have any probs

What kind of power/torque did it make ?

Ive heard lots of ppl having problems with broken tapered shafts for the 156bhp red top into a corsa conversion.

Non Tapered is way to go especially if you start playing with your 2 litre and add extras

if you get the tapered shafts it shouldnt be aprob..

its the joints that take a battering and need replacing if ya running big power..

its the tapered shafts welded together which are shite..

my mates running a 2ltr 16v turbo on 1.6nova drive shafts, the route I will follow if they stay in one piece!!!! mucho cheapo

if u get tapered shafts u are limited to how low u can drop ur motor and also they are not as reliable as non-tapered ones. saying that tho, ive had mine in for about 12 months n no worries <touches wood>

id also recommend spending the extra and getting your engine recond, the majority of valver engines for sale are 80k+ and i have seen loads of mates buy them and for something to go wrong due to age (and suddenly canin it. lol)

If you got the tools then you can do the job for pretty cheap (price of stuff). The majority of my cost for fitting mine was on tools since all I had a stanley ratchet screwdriver and that was it.

I would like to attempt it myself, if I got the engine, took it to be reconned, then brought it back home and did it, I think I could do it but I dont have the confidence to do it right without in the end having to take it to another garage.
