Lintels above windows now in place and the layer of bricks around the pond to make it all the same level.
Last of the wall finished and the large window frame in place properly.
I forgot to order the second 7' lintel, hence there only being one there at the moment! Will be finished this week anyway!
View from the back wall of the pond looking towards the house so you can see where it is in relation to it. Also the guy in the picture is our sparky, which means that the pond electrics outside are now hooked up and live ready to go :-)

1.5t mini excavator and about 150 wheel barrow loads of soil taken away! Hard work  I've just ordered 5m of RGB colour changing LED strip that is IP68 rated for underwater use, and I'm also hoping to get a wifi controller for it so I can do it with my phone

Waterfall now fixed back in place and we've started the foam insulation that will provide the backing to the fiberglass. Not long left now!

How is the fibreglass work being undertaken? I'm not convinced wet lay will take to the foil surface of the insulation. Personally, I'd use pre-made flat panels that slot in and are bonded to the insulation and then make the joints/unions with strips of wet lay in situ.
I'd be interested in how he's doing it anyway for personal reference.

Don't know to be honest but it's standard practice to do it this way - the guy doing the glassing has been doing it for 25+years :-)

Just been let down by the fiberglasser three days before he was due to come here :'-( Desperately trying to find someone else to come and do it now ASAP

I've spent the last two and a half hours on the internet and phone looking for someone else to come and do it, and have finally found someone who can come on Thursday or Friday. The price for the fiberglassing is £995 plus another £375 for the foam backing. After having done more research into the foam and finding out how vitally important it is for it to be incredibly securely attached (otherwise the fiberglass can crack) we have decided to take out the two sheets that we put in last night and let the professionals do the whole job, because making it properly watertight is obviously the most important part of the build!!

I would seriously suggest to the fibreglasser to use pre made flat sheets cut to shape and bonded to the insulation with a polyurethane adhesive; as long as the foam is securely fixed with pins and adhesive; the sheer weight of water should suffice in holding everything together and the PU adhesive will give a degree of flexural capability. I'd then scratch up all of the corners and lay 3/4 7" strips of 600csm. I'd come and do it for you for half of the price quoted but I'm too busy as it is but there shouldn't be more than 1 prep day laying up the flat sheets and 1.5 days on site. Materials wise, there's no more than £75-£100.
A lot of the guys in our laminating shop do foreigners for people, glassing flat roofs etc. If you have a boat builders locally, it might be worth enquiring with some of the staff if this firm lets you down.

Just had a call from teh fiberglassers - they are coming tomorrow evening around 6 to make a start on the foam, and will be finishing the job on Friday as planned. Wooooooo!!!

Temporary frame built around the pond, it has been properly cleaned and dried out and there are now two dehumidifiers in there sucking out the last of the water ready to start the fiberglassing tonight and all day tomorrow. SO close to getting the fish in there now!

They came early and have pretty much finished the two layers of fiberglassing already! They are coming back at 7 am to sand it, do the top coat and then the black liquid plastic final layer, and we can then put the water in on Saturday :-)
