Well thought I'd quickly fit the EPAS colloum after work, turned out to take longer than I thought, swapped the clutch pedal and frame over but found that the heater box on the earlier cars is shorter than the late cars that run EPAS from the factory so couldn't fit the drivers side air vent so will just blank that off, not bothered as I only kept the heater box to clear the windscreen

Also fitted the boss extention to push the wheel further out, now need to lower the front of the colloum to bring it back into align, but need to fit seats first

Got the tracking equipment out and set the car up, I've set it to zero degrees at the minute for a start so I can then play with different settings to suit how I like the feel

Been working to between 12-1am to get this ready for PVS as I have to do private work after work as well so I have to find a balance else I won't ever have the car done otherwise

Got a call off Raj at Autoflock earlier saying my dash will be done within a week so decided to get the last few bits done behind it, made some plates to block off the air vets to the driver and passenger side as I can't fit the drivers side one in so decided to blank both off

I've had problems in the past with the bulkhead cracking due to it being to flimsy so made a couple of 3mm plates up and a bit of angle iron to act as a brace, also welded up all of the cracks and then seam welded the tunnel while I was at it

Then continued through the car and into the rear

Just need to move the fuel system and brake lines and then I can remove the wheel well, then I may look at getting the cage in but that may have to be a job after PVS tbh as its not essential at the minute, need to do the seat rails and then look at getting it MOT'd as it runs out on the 27th of May

Had to repair a couple of holes in the floor pan around the rear seat mount hole, they are a double skin and water sits in there and causes it to rust so cut all affected area out

And butt welded it all up, then made a start on the seat rails. Spent a lot of time trial fitting the drivers seat as I wanted it to be as central to the steering wheels as possible so tweaked it to suit, I'm about 5mm off centre which is more than acceptable and much better than standard, just need to now lower the column to suit my needs

Got the other seat rails made and welded in, also welded the harness eyelets in and mounted the battery cage

Made the rails to sit the passenger as far back and low as possible to the floor

Decided before I painted the floor I may as well chop the spare wheel well out saves me painting it twice, so I whipped the grinder out and got cutting, also moved the fuel system forward so managed to use a few less hoses and removed the boat anchor of a battery

Then got a little carried away msl:

I then ended up cutting it right back to the chassis rails and angle the top to suit the rear diffuser and then chopped away the bottoms as they were rusty and would act as air dams, quick coat of neutra rust

Then made a plate with the upswept part and welded in

Gave it all a paint with zinc based paint

Following day I sealed all the seams and then undersealed it all.

Bumper re fitted and diffuser bolted up and joined to bumper with sikoflex

I have cut away the bottom of bumper and trimmed along the bottom edge so there is no longer a skirt which can catch air.

It's a marmite mod but IMO can only help prevent a air drag effect from removing the wheel well Downside I now need to re paint the rear beam as its on view now

Have re located the fuel system in the centre of the car, just need to re wire it now

Mot is booked for Thursday morning so need to get the CAT back on and do final checks as I need it to pass else it won't be at PVS otherwise

Cheers! Yeah could get a wider one in there, it's perfect in length just could do with being wider by about 8"s I didn't realise it was that small until it turned up, at some point I will replace it but far to much to do to worry about that now. Fingers crossed for Mot I'd tow it there normally but my Astra has died at the mo so I have no tow car ;-(

I used to use mine as a daily driver but there not always the most reliable. If it passes the mot Thursday then it will be my daily driver until the Astra is fixed.

Can be fun, but end up racing all top end cars and bikes for fun

Weirdly it is better on fuel than the Astra due to the 6th gear but only if I keep it off boost which is so hard

Well thought i'd have a big last push on the car prior to PVS and got some of the jobs done, first up was take the front tyres off as they were no longer road legal and stick them on my spare alloys, gave the a quick re furb before painting them rattle can black

Tyre machine then decided to throw a wobbly and chew the paint off one wheel  other one just has diluted washing up liquid on. Gave it a quick lick of paint after just to hide the damage

So now have a set drag tyres and then a decent set for the road

Had to re wire the fuel system up and shorten electrics for the new battery

Finally got round to lowering the steering colloum to suit the new seating position/boss extention

I then set about painting the interior, just had the one coat for now and ran out at the end so back panel needs some more on it but looks a million times better now While i was waiting for that to dry i undersealed the bottom of the car again to keep it fresh and fitted the CAT for the emissions test, by this time it was half 4 in the morning and i had to be up for half 7 so called it a day

I then spent what felt like a life time zip tieing all the wires out the way, as it looks like my dash is not gonna be back in time for PVS :hammer:
Had it nearly 10 weeks now so not best pleased!

Next morning only had time to fit drivers seat and harness as i only had a few hours before MOT

Realised i had no headlight switch as thats still awaiting flocking  Luckily i had the tigra to nick one out of, with minutes to spare i gave the lights a test and i have no power going to the passenger side light at all  Had no time at all left to fault find as tbh the problem is no doubt down to the fact all the dash electrics and not in there right home and there was no way i was gonna whip all the wires out again so just cancelled MOT

TBH the car is no where near how i wanted it to be for PVS having had zero mapping since last years outing and a quick look at the weekends weather i decided to pull the car out and not bring it to PVS as i have no tax or mot and am skint due to paying for my up coming 2 weeks in florida with the kids, and needing money to fix and tax the astra so i just decided to be sensible for once

Am gutted but it's just not worth it really

Decided to stick the other seat and harness in anyway just to see what it looks like completed ish
