ATV + Optical out to surround = Better than a docking station.

Are you being serious?

You've bought a product that doesn't really do the job well then had to hack it to get it to work the way you want

Yes I'd do the same, you didn't buy something that worked perfectly though

I bought mine knowing i was going to jailbreak tbh. Just went an updated it to 4.3 and couldnt find the software till Davey linked me up yesterday.

I'm a bit gutted because I just blew £200 on a mini system with an iPod dock, if I had known I was going to buy this I would have spent the money on an suround system

Yes! I have the A-100 in the bedroom running YAMJ to give me a better looking menu (DVD covers and synopsis etc..)
And I also have a A-200 in the lounge that has it's own built in version of YAMJ called networked media jukebox (NMJ).

The main feature for me though is the ability to playback .ISO files
I think though that if the Apple TV can do this through XMBC, it would be a very good contender

I like your idea of having dumb frontends and a myth server, but it seems most recent TV's these days can stream shit but the question is what exactly can they stream. In my room I've got a PS3/Sky HD so I can record alot and use the PS3 to view downloaded films using PS3MediaServer but it does fall short on a few things.

Depends what you're after, certainly you could run DLNA alongside Myth with Myth handling PVR functionality and DLNA dishing the media out. You'd still need a Myth frontend for control and you'd loose a lot of the PVR/tuner streaming functionality (possibly could DLNA to dish out a live stream from a tuner, no idea though) that you'd get with Myth frontends.
And Myth can be a bit of a PITA to setup but having played with a few full blow setups they are epically cool and easily worth the arseache

John , I'm tempted as the TV in my room only does 720p (it's old and I'm not made of money) so I'm very tempted.
