thinking of switching over to virgin media as bt are shite and won't help with my poor internet speeds. i currently have a bt phone line and bt broadband. also have sky+ HD.

if i switch to virgin i want exactly the same tv package so i'd be looking at the sky movies collection and the sky sports collection. i can't see anything on their website about HD though. if i buy the HD box and get the movies and sports collections do i automatically get HD channels too or is that another extra?

Virgin only have a couple HD channels. They don't have the same HD range. They also don't give you the same Sports channels. You may get Sports 1/2/3 but you don't get any of the red button features like picking your football first match, pick your champions league game to watch etc.

If your after decent HD stuff stick with Sky

I've always been with Virgin.. Only had problems with my internet and thats due to the fact the cable to my house was fucked up by my clumsy neighbours.

ah sorry mate i think you're right. we switched over from bt to sky bb and it was massively quicker although sky does suffer DLM problems which slows download speeds to about 12kb

Sky+ HD is WAY better than V+ HD (or whatever it's called). Stick with your TV package and just get cable internet. It's the nuts.

if you can get Virgin Media cable BB, then why don't you just get it on its tod? So you keep sky and BT for your house phone and VM for your BB.....simplez

it will actually work out cheaper to get the bb and phone from virgin. almost £20/quarter cheaper so i'm going for that. then i dont have to bother with bt.

As long as you've been with Sky over a year than that's a good plan. There are good deals to be had if you phone them up saying you're considering it, but not quite sure if they will beat BT for the "excellent service" and price you've had.

Its cheaper to get the whole lot.. If you get the decent HD tv package they pretty much throw everything else in for free.

yes but the HD is nowhere near as good as sky mate. i dont really have any issues with sky's service so i'll stick with them. i didn't realise you could just get BB and phone packages from virgin hence the thread.

How did you work that out?

The differences are sky gets a few extra HD channels and Virgin gets On-Demand (which IMHO is priceless).

Thats a NO

I would take all the HD channels on Sky for Virgins on demand service any day. Virgin do have a good product but in terms of just the TV side of things Skys is a better product (whether the extra cost is worth it is down to the indiviuals preferances)
