That sounds like one of the feeds going into the back of the box isn't connected properly..

If its not 1080p even less of a point in paying for it surely??

why - little difference between interlaced and progressive

One thing to be aware of is HDMI does not support 5.1 only 2.0 for sound

Still have to use optical for 5.1

Not a bad thing just need to be aware of it

HD is great - so much better than SD

Progressive is a big difference but no reason not to get it.

The difference between SD over an old scart cable and 1080 of any variety over a digital HDMI is massive

IMO 1080i and 1080P is little difference depending on what you watch

and i never said there was little difference betwen scart and HDMI

I meant 1080i and 1080P

completely agree.

sky was always pixelated and made it wank watch tv, virgin media standard broadcast is awesome, brilliantly crisp.

also, afaik, sky hd is 720, virgin media is 1080, and virgin media have shit loads of hd programmes on demand.

different strokes for different folks i suppose.

ps, v+ box is miles ahead of skys equipment.

I was agreeing with you, there isn't that much difference between 1080p and i but I can see it.

The difference between the scart and hdmi was directed towards danny, even if it only done 720 its still far superior to SD.

Rite just ordered it all including line rental and broad band.

Called to see about deals and got the HD box for £30 installed; £10 off a month for 3 months and free Sports and Movies for 2 months

Rather happy with all of that; much better than paying full price and getting a £25 tesco voucher if i had done it online

The Virgin + box is good for recording two channels and watching a third. But the software is slow, the tv guide is shite and is nowhere near the quality of a Sky HD box. And before anyone starts talking pish, we have Sky HD and the missus has the Virgin VIP package AND I've worked for Virgin and know how many people complain about the boxes

And to answer the original question, aye, it most certainly is worth it. That £2.50 a week is worth every penny when you're sitting with a cold drink, watching a Grand Slam Sunday.

The On-Demand service is worth the monthly subscription alone IMHO! I LOVE IT watched all of the BBC shows I've missed over the last few weeks while I was at home on my death bed yesterday
