You need to specifically say you want to cancel there and then.

And even that may have stopped.

I actually said I was switching from Virgin and ask for a special discount..she offered the sky+ box for 99 and free installation. I said leave it..

then came down to 49.99 and finally free, but is a refurb (i would say new) box.

I got Sky upgraded to Sky+ for about £30 I think it was - they originally wanted about £120 I think!
Just had to say I was thinking of going with cable TV

worst case they agree to pull the plug but you will get a call from sales a few days before they really do pull it to sway you back with offers

Got Sky HD+ and multiroom, all the channels and it's costing me about £63 a month, daylight robbery really

I'm after Sky+, with a prem package but I don't really fancy paying 99quid for the box. Anyone ever got a free + box? What should I say?
