The rest of the bodywork progress pictures:

Passenger side ( if its lhd ) rear arch , shaved slightly and the filler cap recess removed:

Mesh held in place with some bridging filler:

Then covered in fibreglass matting:

The front wing splash guards fitted to the car, ready to attatch to the wings:

New vents still did'nt have the right angle, so a bit of chopping was required:

Now they were done the panel could be fitted:

Flushing / making things fit that were'nt supposed to:

Starting to flush the panels in with fibreglass:

Filling over the old filler cap, with fibreglass and then a skim of filler:

The finishing off work thats gone into it this week is unbeleivable, just when Dave thought it was there it needed another 2 days on it!

Here are some pics from the last week, and it WILL be ready for this Saturday:

The side vents were probably the worst idea tbh:

Skim of stopper to lose the ripples in the GRP:

Then lots of primer:

Looking alot closer now, a day of flatting tommorow and sorting a few areas before the colour goes on:

More progress over coming days, keep your eyes peeled!

Not you! The same person that smoothed my corsa arches in and as were not done same way as your they were only destined to last 6months max before cracking / sinking blah blah blah!

Excellent input as usual ed.

Another update today:

Hamish got a couple of deliveries this morning from Pace and Pro Alloy.

Pro Alloy - A pair of slimline fans with laser cut mounts to bolt up to the RS500 radiator:

Well its back home safely after Dave (SBS-Bodystyling) lovingly applied some nice white paint to it! Hamish is very happy to have it home and the paint looks brilliant!

He's had a good day on the car today.

Managed to waxoyl the entire shell first thing in the morning so all chasis rails, sills, A and B pillars.

It would have been on its wheels baring the tie rods front and rear need modifying, so the laithe will be called into action tonight. hamish made a huge list of stainless nuts, bolts, and washer which he will pick up in the morning.

Anyways the pics:

I hope I'm not teaching you to suck eggs here mate. But don't use stainless nuts and bolts for structural items. They aren't strong enough at all. 8.8 BZP sets and nylocs are the best bet and 11.2s for seatbelt mounts. Stainless are ok for non stress use but aren't man enough for anything else. It's an SVA fail to use stainless on anything like suspension, steering and drivetrain.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.
