Hello everyone. I am pleased to have joined your forum. Perhaps you could give me some advice.

I have a P reg Corsa 1.2 that is a bit temperamental. Some times during normal driving conditions it just seems to lose power and occasionally cuts out altogether. Mostly, thou it drives fine.

What sort of things should I be checking to get it to drive more reliably?

Although it's just a hunch, I think it's fuel related. The engine doesn't sound like there's a specific cylinder missing, more like it's being starved of fuel. Also, when it's playing up, I need to hold the throttle pedal to the floor to kick the choke in to get it re-started. Then the engine revs like crazy for a while until it settles down.

Anyone have any ideas!

If its a 1.2 8v SPi (dizzy cap)

This is the TPS sensor located on the right hand side of the inlet under the cover that your air filter leads to.

Change this and the high revving problems should be sorted, i had the same problem myself. You could try cleaning it with carb cleaner first instead of replacing.

Thats a throttle position sensor/\

Kick the choke in? What choke, it dont have a choke.

Sounds like an ignition problem to me, either the wire plug on the dizzy, or the ignition coil failing. Or even the fuel pump relay.
