Hi. My car has started to develop a problem. It's kinda wierd. When the engine is cold or at motorway temperature its fine. But if i'm in town and it starts to heat up with the stopping / starting, the throttle response becomes very laboured. If i set off in 1st without about 50% pedal, it runs at about 10% pedal for maybe 1 second-ish and jumps up to 35-40% before i change. There's also a noticable lack of power in all the gears when my foot's to the floor. That is until it returns to normal temperature.
Also, if i drive at 30mph in 4th on a perfectly flat road, there are small blips where the engine looses power for a couple of seconds and jumps back to what it was running at. Even though it looses power, it never dies completely.
I have made no modifications to the car at all. It's also had the crank sensor replaced in the last 6 months and i've even ran BP Ultimate petrol / normal with redex to see if it's maybe the injectors that are clogged but they are pristene. My bet is the airflow sensor, i believe it's a common fault on the Ecotec engines (mines is a 2000 'W' model) but i'd like to get some seconds opinions before i have to put it into a garage. Oh yea there's also a hole in the exhaust - a seal somewhere on the manifold is broken that blows out at full power but something tells me that wont make much difference.
Cheers
-David
