Needs:

16 Valves
4 Pistons
timing belt
guides
pulley
oil change
oil pump change
a lot of other work i cant remember

I think gona cost me about £900

heres the problem do i just pay it and be safe in the knowledge as the engine will be mint and i will know the entire history of it or do i go out and find another engine that i know very little about and put it in hoping all is well just to save a few hundred bucks

im swaying to just paying this bill which includes all labour costs.

pay it and get it sorted then you know about the engine.

you've not really had any other problems with the conversion have you?

and don't swap it etc for a 106 or that, your corsa looks 100X better Des....keep it...

no not had any other problems mav just seems to have been engine problems due to silly little things that people did to the engine before i bought it. it's really down to a key way bolt or something not being tight enough that has caused this damage im pretty sure ill keep it once im done just a little depressed by the thing at the moment specially as im moving into my new flat next week

You can pickup XEs now for like £200. I would just swap it, can have it done in half a day.

Party at mine as of a weeks time Mav you ever need somewhere to kip over your more than welcome . Beers a plenty . Uprated parts yeah i know but then that adds to the expense id much rather keep the rebuild cost below £1000 which is what im aiming for. I'm happy with a good standard engine just want a car i dont have to worry that much about

what....

if your just doing a standard engine, just swap it.....

No real point or economical reason in rebuilding to standard, from standard when you can get a 'maybe' decent engine for 200. I'd rather chance 200-400 on another engine than 1k on a rebuild.

Whap another engine in.... rebuild the buggered one yourself.

I have 32 valves, 4 pistons, crank, rods, pullies etc for you to play with.... head too

would have also thought you would need new guides, rebore and maybe some headwork if the damage was that bad..

all valves and all pistons is pretty severe!!!

have you seen the damage?

no not seen it, the engine went out with a bang but he said that the pistons had touched the valves causing damage. the pistons kept going when the pulley let go. he thinks its repairable for probably less but was just giving me top end idea.

gotta agree with that, spending £1k on an engine that you can pick up 2nd hand for £300 is madness imo

you can prob sell parts off the old engine for £££'s too if you dont fancy keeping them for spares..

Things like the sump, rocker, belt cover etc are always good sellers.

Think i made about 200quid on just cosmetic shite i had lying round the house.

Save the 1k..... use it to bang on TB's (towards anyway)

or buy a c20let with the 1k.....

or.... give it to me...

or... buy a marge! Saw how much fun you had getting banned at Edzel with mine!
