ive decided i need to fix it now.
basically it only happens when im driving on motorways or a constant higher speed road, i feel a slight loss of power then the light comes on. it judders a bit if i try to accellerate hard (well as hard as you can in a 1.2) dunno if thats anything related 
ive had the air intake sensor off as someone said that could be dirty but it all looks clean to me??
its a 1.2 16v by the way in case that helps 
any ideas?

Yes I think me, Rob and Sam should get together and write a book on the 1.2 16v engine and how to tell which sensor has gone as we've probably covered them all between us

Your AFM might look clean mate but may still be dirty, get some carb cleaner and spray it on to it, that will clean it and then take it for a spin see if its any better ...
