Got 27 miles in on the road bike today. I'd been avoiding it like the plague as road riding in winter is not my idea of fun. Was all ok though.

smcGSI16v, Cole said to ask you about the Swinley conditions? Looking to go next Sunday but want to make the most of it.

Used to know it pretty well before the trails were put in, but heard some of them are closed? Do people still do the off-piste stuff?

Managed to squeeze in a ride outdoors this morning - done at least 20 miles each night this week on the turbo trainer so it was very nice to escape the garage. Also properly stuck to the diet this week and dropped 7lbs since new years day. 3200 Miles now covered since I started training last February - already got 270 miles on the board for 2014. Lands End to John O Groats begins in exactly 13 weeks! My route has now been pretty much finalized - need to start booking accommodation very soon. My luggage and panniers are also now on order so hopefully the weather is kind in February and I can get out and do some fully loaded practice rides.

Quite happy with 17mph average considering I had to go though several flooded sections ...also couldnt be bothered to change my turbo cheap tyre back to my schwalbe so was taking it easy on bends

did a slow run round whinlatters north loop today as i was with 2 mates who are just trying to get back into some fitness. got a pr on the descent which i wasn't expecting. first time I've ridden the revised final descent without it blowing a gale and torrential rain type conditions. quite enjoyed it.

Final descent of whinlatter north loop. Quite liked the changes that they have made, seems a bit faster even though it's pretty wet.

It is a pretty good trail! 1100ft climb in 3 miles seeing as it's cool to mention how much ft you climb on a ride these days.

I have tried Turbos and I really don't like them at all. Think its mostly down to personal preference. The fact my attention span and interest are not up to long stints on them does not help either!

There is some maintenance going on so may be a couple of diversions in place. Compared to a couple of weeks back it has dried out some what, but is still quite wet in some places and the swinley grind is strong at the moment.

Yes people do still ride of piste. There is Monaco and New England hill area that's still ridable. I always prefer the old deer stalker rather than the new version. Then there is crowthorne and everything beyond pips seat/ other side of the black, so corkscrew end of watsons wander.

The old stuff is still there and is still riden, but generally only by people who know where it is, so in these wet conditions they are better running than the official stuff.

If you want a guide then I am available, so long as my pads show up.

I've only really been out on my road bike recently to get some fitness back after I went to chatel on the French/swiss border in late august.Pic of my bike at the top of the bike park

Shortly after the pics were taken I came off my bike down the side of a twisty bit! Didn't think too much of it to start with but ended up not being able to walk properly for 3 weeks due to a small bruise!

Struggled with getting my fitness back really for some reason but don't know why.
