Lots of work involved in this. It is costing a fortune?

I guess you are getting some reclaimed stuff - is that reasonably priced?

The stone cill and the big and small fireplaces together were £50.

Half the kitchen I got for free from work. I only had to get the wall units, 2 base units, work top and sink.

My dad has helped me out a lot, he paid for the work tops, bath, back door, and the windows. I'm now paying for the rest myself. It helped that I got the house for £112,500 and not the £125k asking price. I also had a fairly big deposit.

But yeah, lot of work. I don't think some people, mainly my mates appreciate the work involved and why it is taking so long!

Next I need a chimney sweep round to clean out the chimney then we can rebuild the fireplace.

Took the bath panel off and refitted and plumbed back in the sink with new taps. Need to cut in to the panel to accommodate the pipework. Unfortunately no choice but to have it going through.

Just need a mirror on wall and bathroom done. Need to chase up my lobby tiles too.

Majority of tiles down. Just need to do some cuts now which should be fun. Pantry area will be finished in just red, as will the inner doorstep.

Really like that, but why did you do the pantry area all red? If theres no door, i'd have kept the pattern going.

Bought the bi-fold door which will go in the lobby -

Dug out the Baxi rotary ashcan, took some digging out, it was around 1.5ft deep and buried level in to the ground. Also broke up all the rubble that was in the fireplace. Laid down some sand and covered in plastic sheeting. Off back round tomorrow night to mix the concrete to fill the base. Then I need to buy a fireplace back -

Well in some respects. I was going to take it to the scrappers. They took the dust pan I spent ages digging out of the ground too!

Bought 6 bags of sand and a bag of cement. Spent most of yesterday mixing mortar ready for bricking. The York Marathan was on so getting back over after going home for dinner took agaes.

Fireplace sides bricked up -

Fireback cut in half ready for firerope -

Next job is to make/buy a hearth then the fire back can be fitted and finish bricking up and filling.

Not sure whether to concrete my own hearth and then tile is or buy a slate one. Also need to buy the tile inserts for either side of the fireplace. These are going to cost £60-120 for a set.

Bottom half of the fireback cemented in place and started filling behind with rubble and cement. Bought some fire rope today so that will be sandwiched between tomorrow and the top half can go on along with the rest of the rubble.

Made a start removing the bricks above the front door to prepare for window going back in. Needs a lintel putting in so off to a stockholders too to see if they have any plate that will suit.

Also took a full boot load of rubble to the tip, charged me £11 to dump it too
