Onto the second one already, they're so well written! Love how blunt Feroo is too, has me chuckling when I'm walking around.

Finished the Axe and the Throne. Have to say I really really enjoyed it. Not overly dark for the sake of it, cleverly written and has the same 'nobody is safe' attitude of ASOIAF so you really never know what's going to happen. Looking forward to the next one .

130 pages in to Glue by Irvine Welsh. Bought it in 2002 and only just got round to reading it 
About 4 lads growing up set over several decades.

The Martian - 9/10 - Really good book, a page turner. I didn't quite grasp some of the scientific explanations, but then again, it is written from the POV of an astronaut.
Fahrenheit 451 - 7/10 - A good story and look at society, but I struggled to get into this, possibly because of the author's writing style which is very poetic.
The Ocean At The End Of The Lane - 8/10 - An entertaining short story. I bought it thinking it was meant to be science fiction, but it's nothing of the sort, more fantasy. It doesn't quite explain itself at the end unfortunately.

Trainspotting - Irvine Welsh - 3/5
This one actually took some getting in to. Didn't flow as well as the film I thought. Noticed a few minor differences too -
Toilet scene - Only arm goes in
Glass in bar - Hit a guy not a girl and scene goes on for longer.
Choose Life occurs halfway through the book after visiting a shrink
Has an on off relationship with Hazel.
No Dianne singing.
Goes to London to a seedy cinema and a middle aged Italian men lets him stay over. Wakes up to him cumming on his face.
HIV counselor sessions and Venteers dying/Baby scene. Which is quite grim until afterwards when it is explained.
I think Dianne has a scene later on working as a waitress where she dips a tampon in her soup and shits in the desert.
Couple of extra minor characters towards the end too with a couple getting HIV and leg amputations.
He also absconds with the money in a different way.

Porno - Irvine Welsh - 3/5
Sequel to Trainspotting. Set 10 years on and Sick Boy returns to Leith to run a bar. There he decides to make a porno with the help of a few locals (Some of the characters from Glue) Begie and Spud have fairly decent roles to play in the book too. I was a bit disappointed that Renton only has a recurring bit part, and so does Dianne (the school girl from TS). The book itself is probably twice as long as TS and not as much goes on. Having read TS its nice to catch up with the same characters again. Still, not sure how this is going to make a decent film.
I'd certainly read it if you have read Trainspotting.

The Heroes - 9/10
Fantastic story. Was initially a bit worried that this didn't focus on some of the more interesting First Law characters, but ended up ploughing through it in a couple of days.
Perhaps the best First Law book so far.
Ending was a bit lackluster, but it seems to be Mr. Abercrombie's preference to leave things very open.

Enjoying Red Country so far.
Just read this intriguing bit of info on Joe Abercrombie's blog: "over the last few months, I’ve been working up ideas for a new trilogy in the world of the First Law"
Also he has a collection of 13 short stories, all from the First Law universe, coming out in April.

I completed my challenge of reading the 40 Terry Pratchett Discworld books in 2015. I'd recommend them to those that haven't tried them. He's got a unique style that I imagine some wouldn't like, thankfully I did.
Currently reading the Maze Runner trilogy.
