I find decorating a piece of piss and not blowing my own trumpet but i'm pretty good at it to.

Being a Carpenter by trade and having 16+ years experience and being able to do plumbing, electrics, plastering, tiling etc etc painting is by far the most easiest trade to grasp and do. Obviously there are certain areas and skills within your normal painting and decorating that are very skilled and take many years of practice to learn.

If you are handy with your hands, like being a chippy you normally are good at other things. Its just the speed that most people lack

My old man is a painter and decorator so i've been round the business for years.

Worked with him for about 4 summers, and still help him out when he's home and I'm in the country.

The most annoying thing for me is watching other folk fuck up what you know is fairly simple. Fee's family helped decorate a flat recently and the just didnt do things becaust it took them a lot longer. I.e didnt sand things completly, didnt paint things completly, didnt paste the wall paper completly

Frustrating!

It takes a lot longer to sort it out in the end

Cleaning rollers - use a big screwdriver shaft or paint knife (stirrer thing) and run it down the roller to get all the paint out of it and back into the pot.

Then just leave them soaking when you go home - get your missus to do them later

Exactly what AK said , i hate watching people do stuff they think they can do and do it wrong or you know you can do it better!

I quite like DIY and building things seeing the end product makes it worth while!

I enjoy it. Me and my missus are quite a little team at it. Prep takes ages yeah but it is worth it in the end.

I used to sand by hand but got one of those Black and Decker mouse things for whitework. Great for home use, don't think it would last forever in a trade environment
