I dont get whos got it and who hasnt and more to the point, whats the point, if its not a seperate thing and is just built in to texting, and how u chose whether to text or imessage and whats the difference between the 2

People with iOS5 and the latest version of other Apple products have it.
It doesn't use a text message, it uses the internet instead.

Yes you can send to iPads.
I like that its intergrated over using two separate apps. The conversation bubble is blue as opposed to green.
What I don't understand is why they've gone to all the effort of intergrating Twitter and not Facebook.

right ipad is set up, its merged my contacts (you sign in with your apple id)
theres now a messages app the same as on iphone and you send messages the same but obviously only to people with imessage and it does it using your email address
im impressed with this tbh
just think it would be better if your contact list showed you who had it, like whats app does!

I found a way to see which contacts have imessage.
When you go to send a new SMS put in a character such as "a or b or c, etc" in the "To" field, and search through your contacts, any contact that has it will have a blue bubble on the right of their name.
If you compose a new message and press the + button and go through your contacts the normal way it wont show it though 
Im sure this will be changed in time.
