this is where it annoys me when people think these XE corsa destroy everything.

your comparing a car with an engine conversion and usually mods, against standard hot hatches.
The cars that the XE came out of are like slugs with asthma standard.

tbh in performance a 1989 astra gte16v is prob not much if at all any slower than a xe'd corsa, weight of them both is very similar.

What do you expect tho mate, this is a site solely dedicated to corsas. Do you think that the users on Cliosport would be any different if it was there brand of car in question???

if it's a straight line race then whats the difference

obviously a ctr would nail an xe on track, just cant do it in a straight line.

Corsa wouldnt 'nail' it either.
People need to choose their words a bit better. Words like destroy, nail etc emply that the 'modded' corsa would shoot off the line and by the time both cars would reach 100mph the only thing between the corsa and the opponent would be 78 car lengths worth of road dust.

Thats the impression i get when the fan boys start posting

Ah but it can do it in a straight line. Your just kidding yourself.

When cars are evenly matched if you get on the throttle .5 of a second earlier you will pull away or atleast stay level for some time.

rob you are exactly right a small race down a b-road is well lets be honest not a full proof way of testing a cars performance or handling..... why? heres few reasons...........

car in front always is slower because of the dangers......

driver skill.........

environment i.e a very powerful car dont always mean a winner less powerful cars can put all there power down without having to worry about road conditions so much........

value if i had a 20k m3 and some knob in 300 quid xe nova fancies a try would i be happy about munching my m3 for the sake of a silly race and a huge bill potentially??

one time i got beat or id say let the guy go is because he was taking silly risks and fortunate for him he lost it going in and out of a roundabout clipped the kerb on the way out sent the car sliding sideways down the road for 20ft and he regained control..... fortunate because he was over the other side of the road while sliding hence he was lucky not to have hit oncoming traffic so i got beat cos i let him go was seriously not worth carrying on......... if u wanna go to these lengths to prove how good your car is! does this mean his car was awesome

list goes on

it cant do it in a straight line at all,if both cars that are evenly matched get on the throttle at the same time they will be equal.

but if what your saying is right, then if the corsa gets on the throttle .5 of a second quicker it will pull away, even more if the type r is not on tec.

Major lol, i havent heard so much shite in my life.
How a corsa can constantly pull away from a ctr until it hits vtec is just bollocks.
Plus when racing the ctr will pretty much always be in the vtec region.

IIRC it kicks in at 5k rpm and at 6k rpm the lift controllers kick in on a ctr? Something like that.

Bollocks anyway no 2 xe corsa's the same some modded, some shite engines, some healthy and rebuilt, so you cant say they'll all be beat by ctr's as some will leave them and some get left behind, aswell as driver confidence, skill and conditions.
