10/6

back from a good day out at PVS, car had done 30 miles previously and it managed the whole 180 mile round trip with nothing more than an engine managment light flickering occasioally, till the last 10 miles when i noticed smoke from the exhaust as i drove off. not clouds, looked like blue smoke.

considering id literally just done the rings , i wasn't best pleased as we thought it was knackered again. didn't affect the way it drove , so got it home to investigate.

turns out although it looked like blue smoke in my rear view mirror when we raised the revs, its chucked out a load of black smoke followed but what we think is white smoke. The white smoke isn't dense, kinda looks like condensation to be honest. the funny thing is though for the whole journey there and back i had no smoke what so ever till the end?

took the plugs out and they look very wet oily. i'm just wondering if the rocker cover gasket hasn't sealed properly as i didn't bother replacing it when i put it back together. any ideas??

Is that the mineral version or the semi-synthetic bud?

I've fixed 2 cars recently with oily plugs and both times its been the rocker cover gasket so its very possible.

13/6

so as the hunt for the latest problem continues, i have come to the conclusion that it is infact blue smoke come from the exhaust with the black, not white.

took the cam cover off to find oil everywhere and took the plugs out to find the entire hole all the way down including the plugs covered in oil. the pistons also seem wet and have lumpy (possibly) carbon deposits on them. we have literally just done the rings so i like to think its not them. is it possible for the oil in the rocker to get down past the plugs onto the pistons if the gasket isn't sealed properly?
