Will do mate

Basically they gave me glasses with the right corrective lense in and it seems to work fine but my long distance when driving has gone worse! I'll call them tomorrow

Will be interesting too see how well the improvements last, 'cus a mate of mine had her eyes done over 12 months ago and she's already had to go back once to have it redone.

Please tell me you didn't mean to do that.

But seriously you're braver than me, I'd rather wear glasses.

It's impossible to blink as they have some equipment holding your eye lids open. And something clamped round your eye ball too

It's not like if you just stare normally either when you eventually feel like you have to blink, you don't have that urge or pain or what ever it is that makes you want to blink. It's really strange.

It doesn't hurt, honest. I found it quite traumatic mentally though felt knackered afterwards from all the stress of it

I'd love to get this done because i hate wearing my glasses for driving etc... But i couldn't even put a contact lens in my eye, never mind let someone attack it with a blade!

Lasers are even worse! One slip and i could lose an ear haha. I'd probably consider it a bit more seriously if it wasn't so expensive... Maybe i should just try contact lenses more

This may have been mentioned earlier in this thread, but what about long term? People always tell me that your sight worsens the older you get?

I find all of this 'laser eye surgery' very frustrating. The companies promoting it make it out to be a cosmetic surgery like having botox or a boob job, what they fail to mention is that they're operating on arguably the most sensitive part of the body and certainly the most precious of all the body's senses.

Adverts on the TV/radio/magazines make the procedure appear very straight forward however, none of the laser companies mention what can go wrong (which is does!!).

Best case scenario - you have it done, the procedure goes well, your eye(s) heal well and you no longer need specs and won't until you reach presbyopia (the process by which you need reading specs) when you reach you're mid to late 40s.

Worst case scenario - you have it done, there's a slight complication and you're significantly worse off afterwards than before, even if you were a -10 myope (short-sighted).

I'm sure many people who have had/are thinking of having this done would be shocked to know how many people have the procedure done (costing £ X,000 and are 20/20 vision for 2-3 years and slowly but surely their prescription starts coming back.

Try Ultralase too. No harm in going to more than one company to compare, I wasn't impressed with Optical Express and their set up.

Still have to get reading glasses when you get older but they also have a procedure coming out soon to delay that too apparently.
