Well I never got it done today, was meant to have my contacts out 24hrs previous! Still had the basic eye test though, and was given a rough quote of £3300 for both eyes. Wouldn't mind trying ultralase but optical express would work put better for me, closer to home.

I went to Maidstone in Kent to have mine done which is over 300 miles away. Sod the distance and cost, its your eyes and you want it doing right!

Have you all tried contact lenses? If so and you didn't like/get on with them, what was the issue with them?
- The faff of cleaning and storing them?
- The fact you have to put them in/take them out every day?
- Or the fact that your optician couldn't give you reasonable vision with them?

Yeah I had contacts for about 8-9 years. Just wanted to be able to see like a normal person and not have the hassle of cleaning and taking them out etc. Didn't get on with the ones you can keep in over night.

Sounds daft but if you have had to wear glasses and contacts since you can remember it means a lot to me to be able to see without them.

Oh, definately, I totally understand that, especially being -10.0. Obviously without CLs or specs, you'd barely be able to see your own hands, let alone anything further away!

If you have them done by ultralase then you can go to your local specsavers for your aftercare, save traveling to where you got them done

Had an eye test yesterday. My vision's got a little bit better than when I had my last test done just over 2 years ago They did say it can keep improving for a few years and looks like they were right...

Also, is anyone else sensing that boylers is not the biggest fan of laser eye surgery?

i really want this done, just worried about potential complications in the future.

i hate glasses and usually wear my contact lenses every day, but that takes it's toll on my eyes.

like you matt, i just want to be able to see without having to stick stuff in my eyes.

They're all over the country but the one in Maidstone is where the Surgeon is based that specialises in correcting prescriptions as bad as mine was. But if that's the closest one to you that's where you would go even with that prescription.

A consultation is free so you have nothing to lose by having one.
