Quick update from the weekend

Fitted some new mounts in search of the clonking noise

New stiffer mounts are alot better then the oem ones and feel alot better under acceleration but the clonk is still there

Also bought gearbox oil and clutch kit for friday

Right gear box is in

Plus point new clutch is super smooth and light

Negatives

Clonk noise is still there

Box is just a whiny as my old one

Unless LSD's are noisy?

Just need to wait for the weather to cheer up and have a play.

Maybe its just saxo gearboxes

Only really noticeable when coasting along at about 1500 to 2000 rpm

As long as its healthy it does bother me just dont want it imploading.

New ratios are though 4k at 70mph is not so but meh

Sounds like a french thing to me

First time I really felt my diff, coming off a roundabout, heading onto a slip road to take me onto the motorway. Just put my foot down and it pulled me round the bend!

Been out for a play on some deserted roundabouts today. Bit damp but grip on exiting corners is epic

really is point, aim and squirt, doesnt want to run wide at all it feels

Still got that horrific clunk noise

Tried to record it but hasnt really come out (the noise when I change gear)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDVMYXDdB_g

Supose it must be the drive shaft as it has a differnt box, clutch and mounts now.

Passanger side one has a tiny bit of play but only enough for you to just about feel if you give it a hard shake. Cant see how it can lead to this bigger noise.

If it aint broke, don't fix it Your just playing guess work now and replacing bits all over the place. If its a budget car, who gives a shit. It still works.
