Right the car was fine for the spirited 200 mile trip to coombe

But as soon as it exited the pit lane onto the track the mis fire came back with avengance

So just coasted the session learning some lines.

Anyway I now have Seven days until PPC at Mallory to get it sorted

I have changed

>coil pack
> TPS and other throttle body mounted sensors
>checked plugs
> checked and cleaned MAP

Left to check

> crank position sensor (once I find where the fuck it it)
>change fuel filter, will have to go shitrons tomorow as halfords dont have them

Any other suggestions other the sell it on a post card

Injectors, wiring fault. Id say try the injectors first, if its not that, check the loom over for breaks etc.

Any idea where the crank sensor is chris? Ive been told its near the gearbox and as this has been in and out in the last week and its only happened since then it could be related

On the hunt around the bay I found this was just floating around. Looks like some kind of temp sensor

All plugs looked the same as this one. Not black or white and all complete so all good as far as I am aware

Crank sensor is the plastic sensor right at the gearbox/block joint.

Ah the thing with the big braket?

I thought that was some kind of speed sensor on the gearbox as it looked like it was on the box not the engine

Thats the one.

Might have the same sort of plug as the lambda sensor, sometimes has a square-ish plug.

Plugs look fine to me anyways.

I am going to look into this as its just come back from a gearbox rebuild it could have not been put in properly/damaged

Off to peugeot in a mo for a fuel filter as neither halfords or the local factors can get one dispite it been the same one used on a shed load of the models

I found my injector problem by checking the resistance of them with a multimeter, built myself a decent rail out of two and been fine ever since.

Before I figured out it was the injector I did most of what you have already done...

Clean TB and all sensors
New map
new fuel filter
new plugs
new coilpack

Would have done if I had any faith in them but seeing as the last time it went in there it came back with the mis-fire

Its running fine at the moment but dont know how long for as I thought I fixed it last time only for it to fuck up at coombe

Fingers crossed anyway as there is not alot I can do between now and then now

May have missed this but is it a Fire on 3 Misfire or a fire on 2?? Other half's GTi had 1 injector go down, but as the management works in pairs it took its pair down as well so ended up running on 2.

was dirty so cleaned it and put it back, not sure if that would have helped or not.

Might just be faulty, but if it was I would expect a error code or something to flash up

When the Pug's went it took 2 garages about 3 weeks to find it, it was only found with someone who knew what they were looking at on the Diagnostics!
If it was running on 2 you would know about it as it would be gutless!

Apart from when the misfire occurs it still feels as fast as it always has. Even why it does mis it pulls hard until it does.

Anyway touch wood it hasnt done it since I fiddled with it the other day

Well from what you've said i doubt the Injectors will be causing the Misfire when its there.
