Whilst ive been out driving tonight my x16xe has began to run very poorly!

Whilst idleing it sometimes starts to become lumpy, and makes itself worse and worse until it stalls or i rev it high and it starts to idle normal again for a biyt then attempts to stall itself again!

Also whilst slowly and smoothly accellerating in 1st 2nd or 3rd it sometimes just kills the power and then accellerates again, causing the car to kangaroo a bit as tho i almost stalled it lol, normally happens about 2000rpm to 4000rpm

Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Anyone know the cause?
Anyone know how to fix it?

Many Thnaks

Well have been fiddling around with the car today trying to find what the problem is and i think i have found it to be the map sensor!

As my car was idleing after a minute or so it would become very lumpy for a bit then return to nomal, it would keep doing this all day if i left it.

However i decided to disconnect the map sensor, after trying the air sensor, idle valve etc just to have a look. and found that it idled perectly.

Does this mean i have a faulty map sensor and would a new one fix the problem?

Thanks

i have been strugling with your exact symtoms, and have also tonight noticed when i unplug the MAP sensor the idle goes fine, but it doesnt drop down to idle as fast as normal.

i dont no if a new map sensor is the key or whether unplugging it is just hiding the problem

yhe i know mate, thats what im thinking, going to buy a new one and just have the same problem, think there quite expensive aswell!

think i might just purchase one and give it a go, might work :S lol

it could even be another component that is faulty and causing the map sensor to ruin the idle lol.

why are problems so hard to solve

because the x16xe has too many sensors

i still dont know if it might be the idle control valve and some peiople are saying it could the coolant temperature sensor

yea ive been told that aswell but my cts is basically brand new, so not sure if that could be the problem,

normally when i have a problem with my idle valve it sends the idle way out, i.e idleing at 3-4000rpm, this is why im thinking its not that but who knows

Have you checked the pipe from the inlet manifold up to the MAP sensor is connected correctly? No splits or blackages?

yeah, if the fail the engine runs iffy during extreme temperatures.

It uses the temperature to work out the density of the air and then it can calculate the voulme from the MAP sensor pressure reading

the pipe connecting the inlet manifold and the throttle body is a common 2 and there r a few air pipes round the back of the engine that split get ur self a squirty bottle of water and spray it on the pipes if the engine cuts out or runs lumpy then its possiblly and air leak.
