ive got a x14xe engine and have found a 1.6 ecotoec head off a '95 plate vauxhall astra sport and was wondering if that will bolt straight on?

if so will it give me any bhp as a bonus and how much roughly would it be to get ported and polished?

I think they are roughly the same so you may aswell just gets yours ported and polished...........

only reason iam asking is because i got my head gasket done about 5k ago and about 3 weeks ago its started taping really loud as if its the tappets, i was seriously going to strip my car cause i had had enought of it, if i can get this head and it will work then i might keep it

I wouldnt like to say for definate. However I believe that they all bolt on and work but the port sizes are all different. Is the engine code for the astra x16xel?

If it's an Astra X16XEL, then it'll be the same head as whats on the X14 IIRC. If your going to swap them. Go for a X16XE head, the ports are bigger.

if you're changing thehead get the c16xe head, as the ports are even bigger than the x16xe ones

so am i reading this rite bcoz i have a x14 you can put a x16xe head on it? what makes this beter and why? and can you use the x14 cams?or can you put c16xe cams in?

putting a C16XE head on it will be better because the ports are bigger so the air will flow in quicker, and the exhaust gases will flow out faster. Lob the 1.6 cams in, they're the same anyway.

cool snds good 2 me so can i just get a c16xe head from a brakers get it ported n polished and slap it on no probs?
