The power comes from the mapping.
You will make more power on "proper" management, compared to a chip/quick remap.

You dont need single throttle bodies to make the power, a well designed plenum is just as good.

the c16xe is not stronger than the tu5j4 lol

and its not any better as far as tuning goes

the tu5j4 engines are very strong with very a good head design, especially the non egr ones.

they are better than the x/c16xe from the manufacturer, and produce similar results when pushed to the extremes

not at all, the nova has shown over 160 on 3 different dynos. it makes the power because it is well built and mapped properly. he hasnt skimped on things and it gets looked after.

not as far as im aware, not forgetting thats the standard inlet robin, which if we are being fair we are comparing standard with standard

if we start modifiying one engine we have to compare it to equally modded other engine.

luckyb is the man to ask about the tu5j4 lumps

totally agree with the fact they are better from the manufacturer but the x16xe is a stronger engine when pushed hard. spend the same cash on both engines on cams, tb's, mapping etc... the x16xe will get better results. the x16 will get over 200bhp without much trouble, cant do that on a tu5j4 without forced induction.

i bet you any money that your tb'ed x16xe wouldnt beat a tb'ed vts, broster was running like 150 bhp and couldnt get better than 15.4 at pod i think it was...
and i dont know of any x16xe running 200 bhp :S

You can get over 200bhp, yes (I've also seen it), but can you do it as easily as you can on the X16XE?

yes you can robin, both produce similar power when modded, although i think the tu responds slightly better to "bolt on" mods such as induction kits and exhausts

Andy Hamilton had over 200bhp, loads of rally cars have over 200bhp from the X16XE.

Mark had 138bhp and couldn't do better than a 15.7, but he had 2 12" subs in the boot, amongst other things.

it is. you can block the egr feed in the exhaust port in cylinder 4, that helps.

SBD built one with over 240bhp, I don't remember seeing Longman building a 240bhp TU.

ive seen 2x x14xe's with 180 bhp, 1 x16xe with 212bhp, 1 with 230+ bhp and sbd's 240+ bhp (but thats technically a 1700cc engine now)

It was likely to be as reliable as any other 1.6 16v engine with a 100% increase in power.

Was this TU N/A?

Swindon got more than SBD from the X16, 256bhp IIRC...
