Is it possible to run the engine without the stat - just with the housing fitted..

Yeah if you can remove the stat from the housing cover, some dont come out, i know mine dont(1998 x16xe), but some c16xe ones do for some reason.

Got a x16xe stat in a c16xe head if that has anything to do with it?

shouldnt make a difference i think they are the same anyway.its still doing it then i take it?
