Got it running now, when I drive it from cold it literally takes 2mins to go upto 100oC, even if you keep driving round at nice steady 40mph, it'll stay at 100oC and go past 100oC if you stay in traffic.

Whats up with it?

Does the system need bleeding?

Did you change the water pump?

No air in the cooling system?

Had the water pump changed about 2k ago, during the last rebuild

Ash - I rather not have on of those, they run a little too cold for my liking

Strange. I'd go for an air lock in the system. Did you top it up with coolant, or just water?

You need to leave the cap off the coolant bottle, then run the car up to temp and let it boil over. Turn car off and top up.

I think thats right. Have a search, Dave A has been through this a bit.

vauxhalls are usually pretty easy to bleed i just run them with the cap off for a while and that usually pushes any air out.was it doing this before you rebuilt the engine?
