as for timing mate. you can torque the pulleys on the camshafts up without them moving, look on the camshafts and you will see that you can get an open ended spanner on there to hold the camshaft. as long as cylinder 1 is at TDC and the timing marks on the cams are facing each other, you should'nt have a problem

well got it all finished off last night.
forgot to connect gear linkage and managed to shear the exhaust clamp hopefully garage will have time to do that, also needing the transmission fluid checked.
got it towed in to garage this morning, what a nerve wrecking experience. was on the brakes nearly all the way there
Just hoping now they can get that sorted. might try get it booked in next week to get a full going over. michael believes the rear bearings are away just replaced them at start of year and it has hardly been moved
anyway fingers crossed for the news later today

head gasket
exhaust gasket
inlet gasket
throttle body gasket
new cam cover seals
valve stem seals
valves clened and re-seated
replaced head bolts
new breather pipe from cam cover
knock sensor
intake air temp sensor
crank position sensor
coolant temp sensor and sender
new spark plugs
fixed a pipe to fuel air sensor (had hole in it)
got a secondary solenoid connected up aswell

think thats bout it
when i write it out i just think ££££ as long as it works i wont be bothered

ahhh, sounds like it should be sorted then! will be good when its back, you seem to have replaced anything that will make it run badly anyway!

Yeah the diagnostic didnt know if it was coming or going, so i have replaced pretty much anything that i thot could be causing problems, hopefully be running a treat by tonight, I am going to get the wiring at the ECU checked out aswell because of the alarm being wired into old loom then i butchered it ever so slightly dont really think it should be causing any probs tho

well remove carefully all old wiring and solder on the wires to new loom all in the correct place think it should be ok, was just done the way we could get the car to run, dont think the engine is actually connected to alarm now tho so only the ignition is imobilised not really sure to be honest

think my car may be dead.
when it was towed there is a chance it could have been in gear. this means the valves may have been hitting the pistons AKA fucked engine!!! says there is no compression in it. i forgot to take crankshaft pulley and bolt so that is getting taken to garage just now. he is going to get the timing done and see what happens

if the valve are fucked! im not really sure just garage phoned and said that basically they think the top of the engine is shagged :crying:

get the head off and valves replaced quickstyle! dont give up yet..

sometimes full valve sets on ebay! have a look

was there a bolt in the bottom pulley? if not... i'm surprised if the timing belt pulley is still there....

i forgot to connec up gear linkage before i took it off the axle stands, thot it would be fine, thot it was in neutral. nope there was no bolt in bottom pulley. presuming it is still there. i didnt have the crank pulley or alternator belt fitted

Just off phone to garage, not got anything done yet as i forgot the bottom pulley, was delivered at lunch time but hasnt got back to my car yet. should do tonight so should have some answer tommorow morning. said the mechanic said it was definetaly in gear and engine hadf little compression. i guess we will wait till tommorrow to find out its fait
