First of all Hi! new here 
right.. i bought a corsa SRi (8v) a few days ago, started driving home and realised when i take it over 4k revs the engine makes a weird popping noise, the rev needle bounces allover the place, the engine managment light comes on and the car starts to lose power.. also on the motorway you can't take it over 65mph (not that i would want to exceed 70mph of course occifer  ) due to the revs.. pretty embarrasing getting overtaken by camper vans etc haha..
Anyway.. the car idles fine, runs smoothly and pulls very well upto 4k.. also when you take the revs upto 4k when stationary it chucks out white smoke, now ive been told thats usually down to the headgasket but im pretty sure it's not that as it drives fine..
the previous owner had a sensor fitted a few days ago (something to do with the fuel??  ) but that was done by vauxhall so i presume thats fine..
the only way i can describe it is that it feels like some sort of fuel starvation, or over fuelling, but im not sure???
I've called a few garages and they're wanting around £50 to look at it so i thought i'd try here before having to fork out for that ..
any help will be appreciated!!

white smoke is normally water i think, its normally the headgasket
Check under the oil cap - White sticky mucky stuff = Headgasket has gone ..
But im not sure the EM light wud actually come on, do a paper clip test when the EM light comes on, that will tell u your problem

The only problem is though the EM light disappears after a bit.. does the light need to be on for it to find a fault.. ? had a quick look through but will read it properly tomorrow when im more awake!

If the EM light stays on for ... *I think a couple of mins* The ECU saves the fault code mate

the code will be stored in the ecu if the lights been on

Checked under the oil cap, it's fine! so that should be a good sign??
i'm just going to mymates to try the paper clip test.. although it looks a tad tricky! i'll give it ago though..

did the paper clip test got errors 13 and 14.
also the the middle box of the exhaust has literally blown up. took it to a garage he said he's been in the trade for 8 years he's never seen anything like it.
think im just gonna take it to vauxhall and be done with it :/
