How does it show disrespect if you overtake on a single carriageway, but its ok to over take on a dual carriageway.

Because dual carridgeways are meant to have one lane passing the other.
To overtake on a single lane you have to go out of your way, i.e. use the wrong side of the road.
Its the impatietness thats disrespectful.

In which case you wouldn't proceed to overtake 1/2 a mile of traffic.

Do it / happens quite often here never seen an issue, I would have more pressing issues to think about to care if the shoe was on the other foot

Not really, dual carrigeway is made for RH lane traffic flowing faster. Singles are not.
How can anyone argue that it isnt a cunty thing to do?

Not all the time.
Ive sat behind cars doing 40 on a 60mph road.
I wanted to do the speed limit and the only way around this was to overtake, so i do when there is enough room.

Some people really get on their high horses about all this.
Went to the funeral of my ex girlfriends nan a few years ago now and all her family were going mad about cars not instantly stopping everywhere we went on the way to the crematorium to let them through regardless of whether they had the right of way or not. The rules of the road are no different just because you are in a hearse and the following cars.
I obviously never said anything as it wasn't really the time or place to get in to a debate about it.
