The 2.0 8v's are only 115bhp. They also have a lot of weight for the little power gain. Not worth it really tbh.

£400 is a lot for an 8v engine, you can pick them up with a whole cav for £50.... Although it has just been rebuilt.

you'd be much better off with the 2.0 16v out of an astra Gte, Cav gsi, calibra 16v etc. They are worth about £400. They have 150bhp with much more tuning potential.

No calibra came with a 2.2 turbo. They had a 2.0 turbo, 204bhp. I think the new mk4 astra coupe's might have 2.2 turbo's. not too sure though.

you have to cause you gotta change the car details with the DVLA, so your number plate will no longer be registered to a 1.2 8v

wait for a 16v, they dont make a 2.2 turbo, they make a 2ltr turbo and a 2.2 n/a but no 2.2 turbo.

but if your not gonna tell the dvla or your insurance company you've got a 2ltr you a tosser.... as you wont be insured if you have an accident

The calibra 8v's are 115bhp.

2.0 16v's are 150/156bhp depending on which one you get.

Turboing an 8v is pointless, because no 8v's came with turbo's as stanard, so you would need custom pistons etc to run any moderate level of boost. Where the 2.0 16v's that are turbo'd as standard can cope with it.

If some crashes into him then his insurance (or lack of it) has nothing to do with anything

I wouldn't bother with an 8v.
The C20XE is the 2.0 ltr to go for. Much more tunable.

if you crash you wont be insured, as its insured as a 1.2 and is a 2ltr, this will void your insurance.

ok how about if someone crashes into you, and they will not have to pay you anything as your not insured
