HI i was just wondering if anyone can help i have a 1.2 8v 4 speed and just wondered if any knew if i could put a 5 speed in and how much this would cost?

is it not just a case of getting a 5 speed box out of a 1.2 8v and its a straight swap??

i thought all corsa b where 5speed thought

should still fit though the 1.2 may struggle with the gear ratio's

Yeh my Dad bought a driving school car when Corsa B first came out, it only had 4 gears and sounded like it was gonna blow up at 70mph

i mean its not the bad it pulls 100mph on the flat and i have got 110 mph down hill. just it drinks when driving on motorways. how hard is it the fit the 1.4 mpi 8v engine and box and it there any companys that could do this?

yeah it is out, old mechanical speedo's become inaccurate after they pass 70mph

just get a 1.2 8v 5 speed box from a later 1.2

beware though, the F10 from the later 1.2 8v's are just as bad as the 4speed types. very long ratios make driving a pain in the arse. I used to have one.

its stamped on the gearbox itself.

How much difference betweem the Close and Wide ratio's is there do you know?

lots! Is yours 5speed too? A CR box means that when you change up a gear, the engine is spinning at a faster revolution in that higher gear than a car fitted with a WR box. Gives better response and acceleration and makes sure the engine is always in the peak power band t make driving easier. even though your engine is as easy to rev as a Lada Samara.

Yeh mines the 5 speed. I know why the close ratio box is better, but i was wondering how much of a difference it makes. the 'box in my mums 1.4 16v seems the same as mine.
