Don't listen to these fit cunts cole, I'm rocking a 30t front and a 42t rear and I still get off and push sometimes.

But then I'm middle aged, fat, as in clinically obese fat, sack of shit.

You can be my friend.... #creepy pervy voice#

That's probably why you have to get off Jim, too low geared so instead of moving forwards you are just flying the legs about and burning out of energy

Jim im also fat and unfit gavin is a proper xc whippet so far the 32 is fine i cant ride up the steep stuff with a 36 rear at the moment and ive not spun out yet on my local stuff i just use the old pump technique on the downs to aid my speed

What Nic means to say is I produce so much butch and manly power that in low gears I actually start to spin the world faster, hence why I have to push instead. It's safer for you lot and our planet.

surely you just need to try harder instead of spending big money on less parts?

went out on a ride with some people today and as i know the local whinlatter quite well i decided to take off on my own and do a lap then catch them back up. managed it in 39 mins which is pretty good going by my biking standards and actually caught them up on lap 2 as they were half way round. definitely getting fitter this year than last year.

New to this mountain biking. .. I bought a giant mountain bike today for the sum of £50 of a neighbour it needs some work done to it like new rear tyre, front brake and gears all adjusting.

Number 1 how much will this roughly cost I haven't got the time to do it myself so go in in shop.

Number 2 I am thinking riding to work and home it is a 2 mile trip just there. Is this do able?

I already leave at 3:30 am it's an hour walk to train station then 2 hours on trains after I swap and wait when my maps is telling me it's 2:19 minutes from my door.

2 mile trip to work but it takes you 2 hours to get there? Do you mean 20m?

Depends on your fitness I guess, I don't think I could manage that - I currently do 7.1 miles there and the same back, and thats on a road bike.

Once you get it working I would start cycling to a station and leave it there - an hours walking is like 4 miles or something?

Nah its 3.5 miles but I carry a heavy bag so walk bit slower. I have bought a rucksack and lightened the back a bit. Fitness isn't too bad gym 4 days a week and play 11 a side football Sundays haven't been on a bike in years

yeah, so you are bound to work some different muscles cycling. Cycling with a bag on your back isn't ideal, they say its best to have baggage weight over the wheels with some panniers.

Try to the station and see how you go.

hell no, 27 minutes is fastest north loop time. I've got quite a few I top 200 out of 2500 so it ain't bad for me on an xc bike

New Bike by Simon_89, on Flickr

Bought a push bike to help with my fitness this year. Removed a few bits off it like the daft reflectors on the wheels. Need to invest in some new pedals, thinking of some DMR V8's after having them on my trials bike.
