Apple's hardware is better quality but for me, Android is miles ahead. Although iOS has had a bit of a hasty facelift, it's still mostly the same.

Difference in browser UI is probably the cause for the 'missing' content on the iPhone5.

World would be a better place without fanboys. Would be easier for the rest of us to pick out a genuine review/comparison as well. Apple fanboy is a special breed of fanboy.

In all seriousness I saw a samsung rep in a 3 store today and asked about the Gear he had on. He tried to show me some of the features of that and the note 3 and 50% of the time things just didn't do anything first time. I was genuinely interested as well, not just trying to find faults.

That's Samsung though, those features are completely separate to Android.

The samsung things lee is talking about are probably software, but samsung software, not google.

Android works on devices designed to use it and lots of other stuff.

That's a valid point though lee, although incorrect, it's what a lot of people think about android anyway.

From what I'm reading, nothing for £600 does either

HTC One is still the top phone

Next company to go bump IMO.

First day with the N5, loving it. Battery holding up well too, 67% left after 10hours battery time - been on wifi and bluetooth for 100% of that, taken a few photo's and had 40mins screen-on time, above average for me because everyone has wanted to see the new phone

Oh done about 20mins spotify streaming too.

Uhh just found something I don't like/can't figure out

With the "OEM" Mail widget, I can't have it displaying a folder which has got subfolders within it... for example with the following folder structure:

Inbox
----Folder
--------Folder2
Sent Items
Drafts
Archive
----Archive Folder

With this structure, the only folders I can have as my widget view are "Folder2", "Sent Items", "Drafts" and "Archive Folder".

Inbox, Folder and Archive aren't usable because they've got child folders

My one was in the last batch of 32GB black before it changed from 2-3 weeks to out of stock. Almost had the decision of whether to get a gay white one or not.

Using mine now. Not too sure on it just yet, everything seems hard work compared to iOS

Good bit of kit though, super speedy and the screens lovely

Got it, much better than the iPhone.

Only thing I miss from iOS is the swipe from left or right of screen to go back and forward in Safari. Would work better on the Nexus because the screen is big enough to prevent doing it accidentally all the time.

Don't think I've ever even used that, tapping the status bar to go to the top however...

Washed out and badly calibrated same as the Nexus 4 you mean?

Thought I'd return to this, it's not washed out or badly calibrated, it's actually pretty accurate in it's colour reproduction and it's amazing compared to the 5S as I had said.

Where did you read it was washed out and badly calibrated?

http://bgr.com/2013/11/06/google-nexus-5-review/

" the color reproduction isn’t terribly impressive and the contrast isn’t very good compared to phones like the Galaxy S4, iPhone 5s or LG G2. The result is a bit washed out, and it definitely doesn’t pop like the aforementioned handsets."

http://www.theverge.com/2013/11/4/5062724/google-nexus-5-review

".. it can look a bit washed out and desaturated next to a device like the HTC One or the iPhone 5S. "

I'm sure the pixel density makes up for it and it's nothing that can't be sorted out with a calibration app. It's only a minor issue compared to the software it runs

Washed out in comparison to an oversaturated OLED screen beside it which has clouded judgement, not oversaturated at all.

http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_nexus_5-review-1011p3.php

quote:

The color balance is quite good and slightly better than even what the G2 offered. Contrast is a lower though and so is saturation, which means some of the extra punchiness is gone. Those who favor more natural reproduction will certainly be happy with the Nexus 5 screen, though.

So if you want it to look like it actually should, the Nexus 5 is the better screen.

My AdobeRGB calibrated graphics monitor looks washed out and desaturated next to my MacBook.
That doesn't mean the MacBook is better, though. Quite the opposite.

Matters fuck all anyway on a mobile phone. Unless for some reason you're doing print work and proofing on your phone, it'd have to be a pretty horrible calibration for it to have any sort of impact.

Seems to be like when Richer Sounds, Comet, whoever want to get rid of a certain model TV. They just crank the contrast up to make it "stand out" next to all of the others on display.

When you get it home, you then wonder why Rita has got an orange face to match her Fro'.
