At the moment my 2tb of music and films is on my media pc in living room

Interested in replacing the content on a hp microserver in loft, then connect smart tv or small pc in living room to it to get content

Also hand to get stuff on bedroom pc and laptop

Have a cctv drv too, could i replace that with a pci card with bnc connectors to record and access remotley?

Thanks

I've got a small atom machine which runs Windows 8 as my media server. Also runs my CCTV software.

Used to keep it in the loft but during the summer it got silly hot up there so just have it in a cupboard under the stairs instead now

I have the N40L Microserver (there's a new model out now), 6TB in total running Windows Server 2008 R2. It's behind the TV in the living room, hides well. I use it to feed XBMC and take backups of my laptop.

You should be able to get a PCI card, just make sure it's quite slim as they're very compact. See: http://tombullock.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/DSC_0009.jpg

Can just install the DynDNS client or something to get remote access, easy

I've got an old HP box, no idea what's in it. Runs 2012 (which is a bit slow tbh).
I've got weather station software and serviio running on it. Most viewing of the media through my TV.

Was in a cupboard under the stairs but now in garage.

Hp microserver in cupboard under stares. 2012 essentials runs my home automation software, a sql database for my xbmc library, 1tb raid1 volume for data and hosts 3tb of media. These things are a bargin when the cash back deals are on.

I just built one from an old HP computer from work.

Like this one.

Ive stuck more RAM in it, and run Windows 8 and serviio. I'm still in the process of loading my movies and music onto it. I use my 360 as a DLNA client to watch films and stuff.

Annoyingly its in my bedroom atm, as i have no where else to stick it that i can get a network connection to.

My HTPC has 2x 2TB drives in it, so that acts as a server too. I'll get a microserver one day
