What is the best way of doing this, Got one that is rounded off and need it taking off, putting a smaller socket on doesnt work as it just spins on it.

Anyone got any suggestions?

buy a locking nut removal kit from Machine Mart (sp) or somewhere. just hit socket with a hammer, big breaker bar, and usually comes straight out if you have hit it enough times

sockets arent doing anything, started off at a 19 and now down to a 16 and it still wont budge. Think the tyre place overtightened it when i had a puncture fixed and shredded the bolt!

ive used snap-on ones a few times and always worked, just hit them with a decent hammer quite a few times and got grip, aslong as the wheel bolts aint put in stupidly tight

Is it the Vauxhall locking nut with the spinning ring around it?
If so you need to remove the ring first, I do this with a cold chisel then whack a socket around the outside of it.

Is there much room in the bolt hole? Maybe weld onto the wheel bolt.

No, its on a Lexus with a set of aftermarket wheels on it, Not much space around the nut, its a pretty tight fit

How come the sockets keep turning around the outside of the bolt? Got a picture?

Because the bolt has a collar on it designed to stop being getting them off

Those collars can be knocked off though. He doesn't actually state there's a collar around the bolt.

If all else fails, get stuck into it with a few cobalt drill bits. They will go through it like a knife through shit.

It hasn't got a collar on it, its basically got a few splines at the bottom and a dome on the top, ill try to get a pic up as I'm on my phone.

The sockets are just spinning on it as the splines have sheered off.

3i_gaz, if I can't get this off with what my dad has at work, ill give you a shout
