Why change every 2500 miles unless you compete in it or just do track days?

The oil will be fine, bit wastefull dumping good oil

nice way of putting it but yes, that's what i meant.

basically, thegsi has now become a typical ''up his own arse'' performance car driver who thinks he's better than everyone else

sorry for having an opinion mate, that's just the way you came across.

having read all 4 pages, i see you didn't mean it that way, but it's obviously hard to portray that across an internet forum.

So around 70miles from 25quid is what you were getting philip2.

Thats not actually that bad when you consider the price of Optimax these days.

So what's all this MR business about then? All I know is that I'd like an MR FQ360 in steel grey with those Rota rims on.

Is it C20Lets white one that's sweet?

Not questioning your opinion but it's all been said now so stop going on.
The MR is a UK spec FQ in 300,320 and 340 variants. It stands for Mitsubishi Racing and Ralliart took a limited run and added to the spec. Alloy panels, more aggressive cams, carbon fibre, alloys etc.

i get near 70miles driving it at 50mph, i can use nearly 1/4 tank going from mine to town on the bypass which is about 9mile...obv not going to lie, thats full chat, the 6 weighs 1310kg iirc, i think the 8 and 9s weigh about 50kg more, if i was going to buy another evo i think id look at the 9s, just becasue their abit newer and im not a fan of the 10s.

i think the mr cams run 1mm or so more lift than standards as a few 4/5/6 owners fit the cams to gain more peak.

tme and evo7s id avoid, for some reason the rods are weaker than any other model, im sure ive seen on the mlr that even some standard powered engines have seen rods come through the block:S

LOL at everyone giving Jay a hard time because he's bloody proud of getting himself an Evo.

Surprisingly Ian's comment is the most dickish so far. Is a ferrari 430 just a 5yr old, 2 door, 8 cyl production car?

They're so highly tuned from the factory and much more lary than most production cars. If Mitsubishi didn't stress such strict schedules then surely they'd all blow up and the warranty dept. would go crazy

320bhp from a 2.0 isn't that much these days? Not enough to warrant 4.5k services anyway surely?

I merely stated what it looked like. Also added I don't know him but that's how it appeared.

That's not why he's getting a hard time.

A 5 year old Ferrari is still a Ferrari, an evo is a family saloon made by Mitsubishi, although a quick one.

do people still wank over evo's? cant say iv done that since i was 16 or 17, i remember they were a rare sight back then and had a massive stigma, really they are just a 4 pot 4 door saloon with an engine running too much boost. Even nic barnes could build one of those in his shed

Clearly they are very good at what they do though but they are no ferrari

some really stupid comments on here

quote:
If you get an evo, get the clutch done

Why If its working why spend about 1k all in to change it. Do NOT fit a paddle/puk clutch for 400bhp, you'll destroy its refinement round town.

quote:
R Lee I've heard horror stories about those Exedy twin plates give the bottom end crank knock?

What on earth is crank knock

You only really need to check/change the oil every 3-4.5k. Most evos dont do mega miles in a year so this is no biggie. The correct oils are prob £50+ a change though. Its cheaper than a rebuild though prevention is better than cure.

Why do they require more frequent oil changes when compared to a 1.1 fiesta? The engine is much more stressed, will see greater temps, rpms and no doubt more fuel will get by the rings and into oil.

Fee ran an STi impreza for 2 years as a daily. Serviced (oil) every 3k, plugs yearly. It used to do about 280miles to a tank with mixed town and fun driving. Think the tank is about 50l (say 14gal) so 20mpg. Not an evo but still a 4pot turbo with 300+ bhp, 4wd and similar weight.
