Any other "real ale" drinkers out there in CS land?

Currently finishing off a bottle of Oxfordshire Ales Churchill. Quite dark for an IPA but still nice. Had a Caesar Augustus yesterday, that was a bit too lager like though. Youngs Special London, Badgers Tangle Foot/Fursty Ferrett and Thwaites Wainright are personal faves.

For those who have never tried them give it a go. If you are a bit wary stick to IPA's and lighter coloured ones, they are similar to lager but with much more taste to them.

I went to the GB Beer Festival this year and most real ales were an acquired taste to say the least

I don't like real ale. My dads tried to get me into it but to no avail.

He's got into them since my parents moved to Norfolk. He drinks Woodfordes Wherry in locals but tries alsorts of random shit if he sees it. Norfolk is good for real ales if you like them.

To be fair I've been a bit of a pussy and stuck to the lighter ones so far, did try a port stout but that wasn't my thing at all.

Only really started drinking them because the Mrs parents got me a selection last Christmas, before that I was a stoic lager/cider man.

My local have started selling Marstons EPA which is a bit flat but has a good taste. A few of the pubs round here have regular guest ales in too which I always like to have a sample of.

I'm a huge ale drinker and its basically all I drink.

I have the Hogs back Brewery 5 miles from me and their ales are always really great. They were better but they have moved from bottled conditioned to brewery conditioned now.

Few others of my favourites are
st austell brewery - admiral ale
Hook norton brewery - hooky gold
Bath ales - gem

The Hogs back brewery also has a shop which must stock about 500 different ales from around the country and europe and I can spend ages in there picking some out.

If I went into a shop which stocked 500 ales you'd never get me out lol. I love real ale, some of my favourites are;

Ruddles County
Spitfire
Hobgobblin
Abbot Ale
Sam Smiths Brewery does some nice stuff too
Honey Dew

And when I drink real ale I seem to get more drunk than whem I'm drinking anything else lol

I discovered this on my honeymoon.

I'm liking St Austell HSD but they're removing it from their stocks

Only tried a few but had one last night which was good. Badger Fursty Ferret

Had abbot ale a while ago, Has a nice taste to it.

There is one in a pub around here called copperknob, When we went in there we had one called erdinger (sp), A strong german one. Was funny to see one of the lads we was with fall out of the pub face first into a van then slide down it

Some of them are deceptively strong. Might only say 4-5% on the bottle but they seem to get you a damn site more drunk than equivalent strength lagers.

I normally have a dabble.

You know you're getting in to it when you give your mate a taste and he throws it back at you.

We were in York on a stag do in August, saw a few places I'd like to check out but wasn't really the time, ended up in a club (Gallery?) drinking alcopops at a quid a go instead
