My limited knowledge comes from working for a brewery, sadly I deliver the beer not brew it but I've learned a lot over the few years I've been there.

Spoke to one of the brewers this morning and he said the fermenting vessels are actually around 17 degrees celsius, I wasn't far off with 20, its the beer its self that's 20+ degrees as the 3 things fermenting produces is heat CO2 and alcohol.

The head brewer at work uses a small batch kit to make test brews in before they go into production (I imagine all brewery's do this) although these kits aren't cheap just add water types they're proper nano-brew kits that are quite expensive as they are built to last years.

As for the kits themselves, as long as you follow the instructions it should be fine, just remember to get some sterilising fluid, I found some on amazon click just make sure its the right stuff before buying

p.s I'd advise wearing rubber gloves when using peracitic acid

When we did our own beer we used sterilising stuff. Some from the brewing shop we go to, other stuff just Milton you can buy in supermarkets. Seems to work well.

Went drinking in Leicester this weekend. Had a few Belgian beers. Went to a bar called Taps where we had our own Grolsh tap on our table.

Groslh Blonde - 4%
Brasserie Le Fort - 8.5%
Blanche De Bruxelles - 4.5%
Veddett Extra IPA - 5.5%
Stancil Brewery American Star Pale Ale - 5%

Wychwood Goliath last night. Was lovely. Best one out of a 12 bottle case from Aldi so far.

Aldi and Lidl are very good for ales, decent selection, usually have stuff like Wainrights, Black Sheep etc for £1.29.

Das Helle - German beer from Aldi. Pretty tasty.

Also got Altenmunster, Berliner Kindl and Schofferhofer.

They're quite good for the German lager/wheat beers.

Instead of making a thread I'll put in here.

Got a home brew kit - 2 buckets, pipes, hops etc.

The beer included is Brewferm Abdij brown ale from Belgium. Makes 20 pints (9 litres) at 8%!
