well not sure wats happened to the engine tonight but pulled up to petrol station and a massive cloud of smoke came from under the bonnet. quickly got the car home and hopin its just the rocker gasket that has come loose or has gone.

few pics

front manifold

you can just see a puddle on the front cross member

hopin its just something simple because its far to cold to be takin engines out and messing about

well its not looking good at all. cleaned all the oil up and resealed the front rocker gasket. started it up and it looks like theres oil pissing out of the head just above the manifold so guessing the head as cracked due to the cold weather. unless anyone else has an idea what it could be.

not going to be doin any work on it until the weather gets warmer so looks like thats it for a few months.

i do have another engine to put in it but it just depends if i can be bothered with the v6 now.

is it oil or coolant mate?

have you got metal cam covers on as the plastic ones tend to misshape and spit oil out...

if its coolant id be checking the pipe that goes to the thermostat there a bitch for breaking too

It's definately oil mate. All pipes are ok. there plastic rockers but always managed to get them to seal before.

It's comin out just above the manifold. There's nothing comin out of the rocker gasket.

Not quiet sure to be honest. Think it's cracked the head just above the exhaust manifold. When I dropped all the water out there was quiet abit of oil in it aswel.

It's jus a spare set of cam covers I hav for takin engine in and out so not to damage the good ones that are on it. It's because of the chain I use to lift it I'm and out.

U any closer to gettin urs swapped over yet

well got the engine back in and running tonight............well sort of.

its missing on either 1 or cylinders. was in a rush due to getting rained on and being freezing cold. could just be something ive missed or even put the HT leads on in the wrong order.

also noticed the it has a 4 bar fuel reg on it so may swap it for a standard one that i have liein areound just to rule out over fueling. also the fact theres hardly and petrol in it at all maybe the cause.

if it turns out the engine is nackard for what ever reason then it will be getting put into my mates lock up until the weather gets better and left there because its getting far to cold to be working on the car on the drive way.

Well got it running properly and it seems like the bottom end is knocking. So will hopefully be pickin a saab turbo engine up just after the new year. Although I checked the oil yesterday and it almost looks like water it's that thin so gunna change that and see what happens. If it still knocks then its saab power

not updated this for a long time

nothing really new. the cars still running really well. its due its MOT tomorrow which i didnt realise until yesterday. hard to believe its been on the road a year. although it will most likely fail due the handbreak almost touching the roof and bearly holding the car. not really had chance to fix it because im having to use it as a daily driver for the past 4 weeks due to my mates car being stolen off his drive and him using my car. have to give the old girl credit though she hasnt missed a single beat. although it is abit costly to run

also got a picture in total vauxhall which i was surprised about

also bought some -110mm rear springs for it as i didnt think it quiet sat right before

not looking its best but its far to cold to clean it

thats all for now really. should be picking a rear disc beam up for it sometime this week. thought i might aswel fit discs seing as though the breaks need doin anyway
