Hi All,

Has anyone got any info on these? My egr needs replacing on the astra but as a temporary messure I'm thinking of blanking it. I had one previous but never used it and gave it shaunmods

you can get them on ebay mate, or just make one out of a coke can

Yeah i've just spotted them for £5.90 delivered. seems like a good price tbh.

I take it you put the gasket then blanking plate and put the egr tied up somewhere in the engine bay?

yeah, but when i did the one on my 1.2 corsa i put the blanking plate on and then the EGR back over it so it was still in its normal position

You can also get the plate from vauxhall for a C14SEL (Foreign x14xe), dont know how much wonga it is though.

I've always been told/believed it is better to put it on at 90 degrees to the factory position so it is just held on with one bolt.

EML will only come on when you slow down from sitting at a constant rev/speed. Depending on the car it stays on or just comes on for a couple of seconds.

It does solve the running problems though.

ok, update. i got the egr off and grease it with carb cleaner. left the car 2 days and started it just a minute ago. left it running 10 minutes and the eml has gone off and its not got lumpy idle anymore....fingers crossed its cured

i got mine from vaux itself and was about 5er and its the thick blanking plate not the gasket

I went to vauxhall to get one but thwy saaid they dont do them. Got it off ebay instead for about £3.

My dad made a load of these down the garage when i took my old EGR valve off, wonder what he did with them...

i just asked if they had a egr valve blanking plate nd they said yeah nds my m8 got one after me aswell for his 1.4

Because its a part for a C14SEL, Not many vauxhall people will know that.
