hello have x16xe,
does any1 know if it makes a diffrence removing the egr and blanking it off?
can some one show me a picture of the egr? im told its under the inlet?
where can i get a blanking plate from? cheers

You have to blank it off because if you remove it you will have the engine management light on all the time. Its a round thing at the battery side of the engine under the inlet manifold if I remember right.

Not sure where you can buy a blanking plate from but I managed to just cut out a piece of metal and used that in between the EGR and the head

They used them on the z16xe for the astras and zafiras, ask vauxhall they will know what your on about.

i dnt get y it still has to be there even tho its bloked off? cant i just have it plugged in but now in? if you get me? cheers

blank the hole and move the egr up under the scuttle panel so its still connected to the loom.if you disconnect it the eml will stay lit

it helps wid emisions
take it off n you will fail mot

vauxhll them selves do it on some cars as a recall, so not every part is true

so just blank it off and put the egr itself (still connected) under the scuttle panell, and it will still run okay?

your car WILL NOT fail an MOT without it.

Mines blanked off and it breezed through the emissions test.

so in affect say if there is like 2 wires going into the egr.. i could jus bridge the two wires together and the ecu will think everything is normal it just wont have egr connected?

basically...

you got your egr valve that bolts to the cylinder head, exhaust gases flow thru it and bypassed through into the inlet to help keep emmissions tip-top

what people are saying is get a blanking plate, sandwich it between egr valve and cylinder head and it will cut off the flow of gases, you cant brdige the wires so leaving it plugged in will stop engine light coming on
